There is a guy I know who used to have a 2015 1LE with long tubes making like 415 whp. Anyways he used to believe that he was going to get 600+ whp from a cam and head swap and if you told him any different he wouldn't believe you. Until one day our tuner told him there was no way. After that he finally came to the realization that there was no way indeed. So he ended up selling his beloved 1LE after finding out the truth. Some guys just guess on what their power level is and you can't tell them any different.

Your post hit home with me. In 2010, I purchased a 2SS brand new when I was on active duty. 5 years later I left active duty, got married, bought a house, 2 kids, etc...you can see where this is going. I sold the car in 2015. Came into a little bit of extra cash the last few years, so the wife and I decided it was a good time to revisit the car that made me happy. Albeit for the year, I found the exact same car I had, several states away.

The online car-buying process was very intimidating, but it was backed by CARFAX and the dealership had a very good reputation in the area. All in all, I purchased this 2012 SS/RS, 6spd manual, with only 21k miles. Future mods will be CAI, long tube headers with Corsa cat-back exhaust, a quality tune, and lowering springs. Enjoy your "new" camaro as I know I will enjoy mine!

Glad you got your car back! I never had one on active duty, but when I saw Transformers, I knew I had to have one. Retired, bought one...Welcome to the forums, very nice car and let the fun begin!!!

That's awesome stuff. The first car I bought with payments (and was on active duty at the time) was my first GTO, a beautiful 1968 convertible that set me back a whopping $2000 in 1984. Of course, $2k is a chunk of change when you're bringing home $450 a month for a family of three.

First mod that is way cheaper ($200-$300 range) and a 15 min no tools DIY that will provide an instantaneous and significantly noticeable performance improvement more so than any of the ones mentioned above (although they’re all good and I have all of them plus a ported throttle body and cam a so I’m talking from experience) is a throttle controller. Vitesse is the most popular but PedalMax is the best …it’s almost twice as expensive at the Vitesse unit BUT it’s the only TC made in USA by an engineering firm that uses gold pins in its circuit board. It will make your car feel much quicker from a stop thru 1st and 2nd even though it doesn’t add any HP. Post back if you get one with your experience.
Yes, but quite a few Gen5 guys (including myself) have experienced "REP" (Reduced Engine Power) mode and limped home after using the aggressive settings (above 3) on Pedal Commander. I've never heard of "PedalMax" or seen it mentioned outside of this post. Otherwise, everything you described about "PedalMax" is pertinent to Pedal Commander (Google it). An aggressive tune using HP Tuners software (if you are comfortable and knowledgeable enough to tweak the factory tune) or purchasing a "canned" tune from a reputable Gen5 Tuner will give you the same thing without going into "REP" mode. I kept my Pedal Commander, and I will reinstall it but will use HP Tuners to mitigate the potential of "REP" mode (now that my tuning skills have improved). The best mod you can buy is HP Tuners software (fits on your laptop) or purchase a "canned" tune if you want to have an aggressive Camaro and not break the bank.

Beautiful car, man! Best of luck with it!

My car is bone stock, so I can't be much help with mods, but then again it has always felt fast to me. To be honest, I'm afraid to have something faster to compare it to, because I'm sure I'd catch the same mod-bug many of my friends here have caught.
