Planned Obsolescence?

It's probably a matter of time before car OEMs try to force a "licensed for use" type of arrangement on us, where we pay for the right to use a car that we never actually own, much like the recent change to the Nintendo Switch platform. |

GM Is Pushing Hard to Tank California’s EV Mandate
Article in today's Wall Street Journal
https://www.wsj.com/business/autos/c...ustry-64708033 Unfortunately its behind a pay wall so the super Cliffs version is GM is no longer all in on EV's Slightly expanded summary: Key Points - GM urges employees to lobby against California’s 2035 gas-car ban, which has been adopted by 11 other states. - EV sales are slowing; discounts are down, and Congress might roll back tax credits, affecting affordability. - Even in California, EV sales lag behind targets. Zero-emissions vehicles account for 20% of sales, below the 35% goal. |

He’ll still throw you tree huggers an EV bone to keep you happy but he’d absolutely refocus ICE V6 and V8 affordable performance for everyone who doesn’t want an appliance.

Could you imagine how social media would have driven the last 150 years of innovation let alone the last few 1000 years of innovation.
Crazy when you think about it like that!

I will admit a lot of things that I didn't think in reality would happen are actually happening. Was expecting the Manufacturers to pump out mostly Hybrids you can fill up with gas, plug in hybrids and EVs with a much smaller pool of ICE vehicles by 2030-35 range. Now it seems ICE will still have a pretty big picture.

Nothing is set in stone I was just saying nothing seems at least on paper to be as guaranteed as it once was. Manufacturers still could do what I thought before. I should have stated what I said above better.

GM CEO Mary Barra named the most powerful woman in business by Fortune Adrienne Roberts - Detroit Free Press General Motors Co.
