Had a Dodge Charger Daytona R/T drive by me today. Heard it before I saw what it was. Did...not...sound...bad.

Google is telling me that spec is the EV. Are you saying the simulated noises sound ok? Or are you referencing the I6?

It appears Dodge has now also canceled its Charger Banshee EV.

Pretty sure it was the EV. I heard it before I saw it, so my impression wasn't "pre-informed". When I saw the R/T badge that tells me it's the EV trim that is discontinued for 2026. The ScatPack trim is still in for 2026.

Yah I'd like to hear the "Fratzonic" amplification of the electric motor to see what I think as well. Too much fakery wouldn't do it for me but Dodge is trying and I want to see the Charger succeed.

The fact that any car (electric) is trying to simulate an engine noise is, to say the least, ridiculous. Is what it is. It makes its own noise. Live with it.
Actually, a good reason to give it some kind of amplified sound is so you can hear it coming. Quite a few people I know have mentioned they have concern about this very thing.

All EVs are required to make noise at or below 18.6 mph (30 km/h) so that pedestrians are aware that there is a moving car around them. There have been recalls for some EVs where the sound is deemed to not be loud enough. This is sometimes referred to as the "bell the cat" rule. If it's gonna make noise, may as well be a fun noise.

The Fartszonic is not fun in any way imaginable. And is just another reason the car failed miserably.

A friend of mine has a '19 Tesla and hers does not make a sound going forwards, it does backwards but not forwards. If this is required, then it must be something fairly new.

Written into law in 2016 with compliance required by 2019. https://www.transportation.gov/brief...al%20deadline.

***EDIT*** I should have noted that I recently received a recall notice because NHTSA has determined that sound level for 2024 Equinox EV is not loud enough.

Do you think the I6 will be accepted as a replacement for a V8? I believe you have one in your truck and am interested how it would do in the Charger.

With the way Dodge has reversed course I wouldn't be surprised to see a V8 offered in the Charger, probably at a premium. However they do hope to sell some EVs just might not be in the Charger. Seemed like an odd choice to launch their (I believe) first EV. They have a partnership with NextStar which just built a huge battery plant close to Windsor assembly where the Charger is built. Maybe they can build batteries and engine blocks.

I do not just by reading on the ram forum. But i can tell you first hand the Hurricane is way better than both the 5.7 and 6.4 hemi. In fact you would be crazy to pass the hurricane for the 5.7. But i do not need the "v8 sound" in my truck. I have my car for that, in my truck i want towing power and the I6 has a lot of it.

As for I6 vs V8 in the Charger...the I6 will be a lot faster than the 5.7. But will not have the sound. So I suspect most buyers would prefer the V8.

Ok back to EV talk

No doubt that they're gonna go down. Question is just by how much.
