i live in lakeland.would love to move to flagler beach,A1A is pretty much fixed from the hurricane .about an hour and a half from the mouse.lovely little beach town,maybe when i retire.

I really liked Crystal River, and the Inverness area when I worked at Crystal River Nuke Plant (before it broke). Still make it to Disney in a short drive really, and it was "rural" enough to be semi-quiet.

But other than that, I also really hate hurricanes. But a quiet stay in Cedar Key for a week was a great getaway if you want to do a Jimmy Buffet fish all day, every day thing.

So if anyone was thinking about moving to Florida THIS year (not 10 years ago like when the OP started this thread), consider everything. Regional bears, panthers, love bugs season (wax or Pam your front end well), gators, huge azz birds, lots of idiots who can't drive in the bigger cities, and great weather when it doesn't rain a lot. Every place has its drawbacks, but if warm, flat climate is what you like with plenty of places to attend car shows and auto gatherings, Florida rates high in my book.

I can totally agree with you on this one!! Even on holidays like Christmas and Easter when a lot of places are closed, the traffic is out of control everywhere!! And they all drive like idiots!! I love my state, but it isn't like it used to be!

The crazy thing I noticed about FL when I enter the state driving, is all the freaking billboards with lawyers about accidents!

That shit is crazy to me. WTF is going on in the North-South!
