Seems pretty straightforward to me. Good work, good review. Crappy work, crappy review. This is the age we live in. Nice incentive to do a good job.

Agreed. If bad news traveled fast before social media, it's haulin' ass now!

I think it would have been ok to ASK you not to post anything negative. As long as he also said, 'until you give me the opportunity to make it right.'

It isn’t my job to tell anyone how to do something right when I’m paying them $15-20k to do it right. They’ve already been given one chance to do it right to begin with. If you have to give anyone a chance to “make it right”, the die has been cast. It was wrong. Period.

I am sure people would like to know the name of the shop, this way they don't drop a ton of money and then have this issue.

Your call. Mistakes happen. But it's certainly your prerogative to take it somewhere else, pay the $15-20K again and roll the dice.

If they did a great job and stood by their work, they wouldn't have to worry about bad reviews. That has never happened to me before, but I would do as you did and not sign anything saying you wouldn't say anything negative about them.

A close relative was sued For a negative review on a small local business. They won $750.00 by stating the comments hurt their reputation and cost them money. His liability insurance company reimbursed him the $750.00 he lost. This was here in Florida. Don't know all the details but that's it in a nutshell.
