Show me your oil cooler

Im looking into going to a larger turbo from AGP which requires the factory oil cooler to be deleted. What are you FI guys doing for oil coolers. Very interested in seeing setups from members running front mount intercoolers.

I can't fit an oil cooler up front with the intercooler, so I tucked it up inside the frame. Lousy air flow, but wanted something. I go to Sebring in early Oct so I'll know more then.

Do you have a photo of what you did? What brand did you use?

I mig welded the mounting brackets, so definitely not bolt on. I used a Derale cooler, which has since gone down in price. The parts I used are below.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004XONT3E...d_asin_title_2
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072MKMWFM...d_asin_title_4
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-221414B

Here are the pics. If this does not keep it cool enough, I will have to build a shroud with a cooling fan behind the cooler (toward the rear of the car not above it) to pull air in from the top front and exit at the lower rear. That or relocate it, perhaps behind the diff where the garbage can mufflers were, with a fan on it.

Do any of you guys think the On3 turbocharger kits are any good, for our 5th gen Camaro SS'? I've been debating it since 2023, but have yet to make a solid decision.

They also have a lot of options, as far as what turbocharger, waste gate, and intercooler you can have. They also have a ton of other optional add-on's, like boost controllers, ethanol safe fuel pumps, etc.

I have an On3 kit I picked up cheap and they are garbage. I have put a ton of work into it getting it to behave at 800hp. The passenger side manifold did not like to seal against crossover and I have warped three turbo manifolds. BOV and wastegate are decent, but intercooler was way too small for what I wanted. After I took the meth off, my IATs were hitting 145 so I put in a Treadstone race intercooler. The Treadstone solved the problem and is fine while cruising, but coolant temps will creep up while idling parked in the heat with the AC on. Budget racers do like the On3 turbos, but I sold mine and put in a CompTurbo oilless 78/80.

Ok, maybe the kit was never meant for 800hp, but once you spend at little time around the 580 mark, you are probably going to want to turn it up and it won't like it.

Thank you. Can you please let me know how this performs.

So there are a few stages to this set-up.

We borrowed a ZL1, threw it up on a lift and removed the belly pan. We traced it out on a sheet of aluminum, and cut it out. We reinstalled the original one and then started bending and fashioning the new one to fit my car. I built a frame work for the new Setrab cooler from the existing mounting holes and added a couple for firm mounting.

From there, we plumbed the new remote oil cooler, and not wanting to stack it in front of the intercooler/radiators, we laid it flat and integrated it into the belly pan we fabbed. With the way it was integrated, we did get a small amount of air forced under the car, as the cooler scrubbed air from the lower grill opening, but we more than compensated for that. We ended up cooling the oil with ambient temperature air and I saw a marked reduction in oil temps.
