3k would get you the best 3800 stall lock up convertor available SS LT headers and a nice set of Mickey T drag radials and some trailing arms.
You would be running low 12's with the proper tune. Then you could save for H/C. You could then match the cam to the convertor.

I found my 5 spoke ZL1 wheels on here at a great price a few years ago
