ACDelco 10055897 is the stick replacment.

The 466 is beefier and seems to hold more tention on the belt. The catch is you need to swap the pulley and stuff, but that's easy. And I found one on amazon for only $20 more so felt it was worth the upgrade.

SSlim, little confusion on my part here. I thought the 89270 was the unit that Whipple supplied?

Are you saying the ACDelco 10055897 and the Dayco 89270 are the same?

I am clear that the 89446 is a better unit than the 89270 but will require slight modification for alignment of the pulley.

Just not clear on the AC Unit, you say stock replacement, as in stock no Supercharger?

Thanks SSlim

Jeff at Whipple told me that ACD was a direct replacement. Said it was an AC tensioner off an earlier corvette.

That being said whipple used 2 different tentioners. that ACD is what was on the earlier model whipple (which is what I had).

can anyone confirm if the old tensioner bracket is diff from the new one? I would like to upgrade to the new tensioner but I'm not sure if the new tensioner will bolt up to the old bracket.

I'm with you now SSlim...just confirmed with whipple that the 89270 is the current tensioner that is supplied with the kit.

Being that your kit came with ACD tensioner (older whipple kit), I'm wondering if any shimming of the pulley would be required if replacing the Dayco 89270 (newer whipple kit). The 89270 seems to be a little harder to come by and I found a couple of places that have the 89446 locally.

If I go with the 89446 I'll report back. Food for Thought

BACK FROM THE DEAD.....I called Whipple and they would not give me any part numbers for a replacement tensioner.

Looking for a better tensioner since mine seems to be going out.
Is DAYCO 89446 the one I need to get and swap the pulleys?

Thanks

How did it go ? I have a 2010 2SS Camaro . It was modded by phastek performance in 2013 with the 2.9L whipple supercharger kit . The 89270 is extremely hard to come by these days especially since I have the 6 rib old setup . Did the 89446 work perfectly fine or did you have to swap the pulley ? What pulley did you end up using btw ?
