I bought some new faubs off Amazon, programming them is a snap, use old key, start car, turn off, use new key and done 1 min ... swapped the blade from the old into the new faub, simple. Most Ace Hardware can cut the keys alot cheaper than the dealer.

Since you have to take the fobs apart anyway to swap the blades, just swap out the boards too. Then you won't have to program them.

Not exactly .... there is a little pin that connects the blade to the fob, 1/16 punch works great. I just throw the old fob away, never take them apart.

Perfectly aware how they come apart.

I can never get the punch to line up with the roll pin with the two pieces still together. Seeing as how the two sides are just held together with one screw and then they snap apart, it's worth the 30 seconds it takes to take them apart then to fight the blade and hold it just at the perfect angle.

No pin drifting needed.

I installed the old key with new the spring and button then wound it counterclockwise and popped on the cover as per the YouTube instructions. Works fine.

You can do this if you are using an older style fob like what came with the 5th gens. If you switch over to a newer style like I did, then the whole button assembly is different and you have to punch out the roll pin and change blades.
