Thank you hesster, for both responses! Very helpful, great pics. You did a nice job sealing up that intake area. Thanks for the ideas and advice.

My 2014 threw a code when I added the CAI and Air Scoop, after it was tuned no more code.

Interesting. Did you tune just for those intake mods, or were you tuning more than that? To ask differently, would tuning for just the CAI and scoop be worth it... noticeable gains over untuned? I ask only because I will eventually put headers and cam on, but these will occur slowly over time. I guess multiple tunes needed after each mod... is that how folks typically do it? Thank you for the feedback!

One thing I've noticed, and have read on here over the years, with the addition of a good CAI, the ECU can "adapt" to this minor mod and be able to recalibrate itself for a proper AFR, when you add the scoop, or the VERARAM over the rad CAI that increases the AF too much, or you try the "big gulp" intake that is for mostly boosted apps, the air flow is MORE than the ECU can handle, and a new tune has to be done to account for the additional air flow, or you will get a trouble code issued until you fix the tune. Hope this helps. There was one member on here that tried to use the "big gulp" intake tube system on his NA'd setup, and it just wouldn't work.

Thanks 1JEWL! Definitely appreciate that feedback. I will install the scoop and see if I get codes. If I do, will get the tune. Would be nice to get that baseline dyno anyway, ahead of future mods.

Awesome, you're welcome. On my 2011 SS, which is the L99 engine, with a K&N CAI, Vmax PTB, Magnaflow Tru flow x pipe, took that HUGE resonator out, and an axleback kit, Pipes Pipebomb, which was pretty much a muffler delete, I did 330 for a baseline on a Mustang dyno, then did the LT's, off road mids, no cats, put down 365 on the same dyno, same day.

I had a Halltech intake, scoop and ported throttlebody. Only time it threw codes is when I changed the cats. Went with Solo high flows cats. Once warranty was done found JBA catless midpipes. Had to use a few o2 extensions to keep the CELs away.

My 1LE with a Halltech did 416whp on a Mustang dyno. Same day a 2014 Blue Ray Metallic 1LE did 400 even, bone stock. Its been argued that NPP gives the cars a few more HP and its a given fact the electric assisted steering freed up some power over the hydraulic steering. 1LEs dyno anywhere from 370 to a hair over 400.

I added headers and a few other mods before I had Ted Jannetty tune it. If you have an automatic, have Ted tune your transmission as well, huge difference.

Edit just noticed you have a 1LE...

Well dang, y'all are giving me goosebumps right now. Potentially 30+ WHP from headers, some efficiency gains for electric steering and NPP, this is all definitely just too much fun! Found a lot of old threads about scoops last night too... great reading, what an awesome low cost mod. Can't wait. Thanks everyone for the responses!

Some interesting reading on Air Intake Comparisons by Ted Jannetty. He tuned my Blown 2SS (a clone of his 680 RWHP Super Street Brawler", and is a seasoned Pro. He has a excellent Web Page, and a regular Facebook blog on builds he does.

Yes sir!! Once you get going, there is NO stopping!! Modding these Camaro's is a sickness, with NO cure!! Have fun with it. But remember, it all cost bucks, but that is well spent money to build YOUR machine!!

I am happy to have THIS sickness. Very thankful for supportive wife also... she wanted me in a Camaro about 5 years ago, but we could not make it happen. Finally just said "it's time"... finances will work themselves out somehow (and they are... won't have to sell the home, LOL ). Headers will hopefully be this next winter, while she's asleep.
