What he did was removed the hump in the throttle body which increased airflow ever so slightly and thinned the throttle body blade. Significantly improved throttle response. Its a stock 90mm TB with some stuff taken out of the mouth.

OEM intake manifold will only take a 90mm TB so doing a 95 or 102 requires a different intake manifold.

I went my full warranty period with doing minor reversible mods in case of warranty work.
All this for the win!!!^^^^ And yeah my VMAX TB was one of the first mods I did along with the CAI back when I first got her. The ported TB did make a huge difference in the throttle response, no more dull spot or "lag" in it, no tune as of yet, then after a bit did the LT's and a tune and really woke up the performance. Don't waste your money just because you "want" to do something, save it so when you get your stuff together, pay once! You'll be much happier! Later on down the road, do your cam swap and all, then retune it, that will be worth the "extra" money. I did my LT'S and my first tune at 19k miles, then did the cam, stall and everything to go with it at 98k miles. But yeah, be smart, things cost a lot more than they did back before COVID when I did mine.

I appreciate the wise words from y'all and will be heeding your advice. If anything, I will just do a baseline dyno pull, no tune. Car is running great, would be a waste. Can put that money toward the next mod, like you guys said.
I also paid a lot closer attention to my LTFTs on drive in this morning...
Idle: -11.5
Steady speed: B1=+5.0; B2=+3.5
WOT: B1=+2.5; B2=0
Deceleration, foot off gas: -7
Any concerns here, or normal?

Not sure what mine are, I have one gauge that took a dump of my dual gauge setup, but my AFR's are 14.69 during normal cruising and idle, 12.3 at WOT.

I will check those (if my cheap scanner will let me). Thanks!

Same boat as you, no clue what mine are but I know my AFR sweeps between 14.5 and 15.5 at idle and is 12.5ish WOT.

From what I gather, and have learned, our AFR's are in perfect ranges for our mods.

Personally I wouldn't do any tuning for just a CAI. Add headers, a ported throttle body and gpi rod mod intake, THEN tune it. A ported throttle body is so worth it. Throttle response is greatly improved. Makes down shift rev matching so much easier.
I went on GPI website and thought I saw they offer a ported TB? Said only for NA applications? Or maybe that was literally the rod mod you were mentioning... I will look again.

If i had to do a ported throttle body right this second I would pick the Katech OEM one. Its absolutely not because I have insight on whos porting is better but solely because I can see in pictures that Katech trims the throttle blade down. Bo deleted the front blade on his stage 2 and on his stage 3 significantly took material off the back. So me recommending Katech is because its the most similar to what I know and am used to. The reason it probably says NA applications only is the 90mm TB sometimes has issues where the blade will flutter under boost and make the car very unhappy. BUT as I stated im running a ported tb with no front blade and the car makes 9.5psi. So take that "only for NA applications only" with a grain of salt.

Rod mod manifold
https://gwatneyperformance.com/ls3-intake-manifold-mod/
For the manifold I used Rick Crawford but GPI copied his research and started doing it. Rick ports out the center posts and GPI is an option to do that. I dont know how much this mod picked up but I did it in conjunction with longtubes and drove it across FL to the other coast and got it tuned. As far as boost goes, Rick told me theres a number of his manifolds seeing 20+PSI with no issues.

I was leaning towards the Katech TB and I think you just sealed the deal for me. High likelihood it will be ordered today. Anything to make the car more fun and this is what I can afford right now (barely ). Putting that almost-wasted tune money to good use! Thanks CD76 (and JEWLD) for the great advice!!

Let us know how you like it. Should start a build thread BTW.

Hmmm, hadn't thought of that! My thread might be a bit slow moving, but hey. Throttle body has been ordered. I'll definitely share my thoughts!

You've browsed my thread, it was extremely slow. Hardly did any mods for 5 years. I think you rebuilding and reviving this 1LE is a great start to the build thread.

There's quite a few guys out there running the Katech TB with no issues!
