The most important thing before storing your car is to change the oil!

I think that this is more a matter of opinion. If it works for you, do it. I did not change the oil. Primary reason? Just what Kenny said. Today's synthetics are a lot different then yesterday's oils. Either way I don't think it's a huge concern. Certainly not mandatory. Especially when the post-break-in change interval is so long.
Regarding starting it - I feel no need unless you didn't put much/any stabilizer in the fuel. Again, matter of opinion. Personally I can't start mine. Battery is right out of the car and the car is sealed inside the car bag. I won't be opening that until next spring. Blocking it - I debated on this one. I decided in the end to block it. However I didn't not put it completely in the air. I figure I took approximately 50% of the load off the tires/suspension. Again, figured it couldn't hurt. I took pictures prior to putting her away and I'll take pictures/video when I get her out. Mainly b/c of the claims about the car bag and how she should come out just as clean as she went in. Supposedly even the rotors will still be shiny. Now, have I stored a car before? No. I have experience from working with my father who stored C2 corvettes. And while it is different I have for years and years stored snowmobiles, ATVs and other small engine items (lawnmowers, snow blowers etc.). Sounds like simple stuff. But, if it's so simple then why is it that at least one of my neighbours come to me EVERY spring to get their lawnmower running properly b/c they didn't winterize it properly? Anyway - that's my opinion.

If it wasn`t mentioned before...Look at all the cars at the Dealers lot where the cars stay under snow all winter long...No oil change ; no Jacking the car; no carcovers; no start ups every week..etc; I agree with an oil change in spring.IMO
