The L99 is a highly advance engine not to toyed with!

The LS3 is prime for the "MOD" taking!

For those of use who want to MOD your car and make a monster out of it. Buy the LS3...for those who want a fast Fuel effient V8 buy the L99 and leave it alone!

Two engine for two different mind sets!

Dose anyone agree?
No...lol look at the g8

The only significant difference between the L99 and the LS3 is the AFM system and an automatic transmission. Both of which have been show to be "mod-able". The G8 is evidence of that. I can't at the moment; but I know Kyle can provide a source or two.

I agree with him; but to put it in different words:

I think you can buy either engine. And you can mod the crap out of either one or leave either one alone pretty much equally. After all, they're both LS3's at heart.

An aluminum hood should be lighter wieght than fiberglass so that is a good thing I guess.

i agree it will be "mod-able" but to a point. im not sure how much tuning you will be able to do with the AFM and how hearty of a cam swap you could do in the L99 and still have the AFM be useful. now im sure most bolt-ons wouldnt pose a problem, but the fact that the auto doesnt have a 1:1 gear ratio is still making me think somethings up.

So what about the people who want to mod but prefer the automatic?

I could be wrong but I am 99% sure the LS3 is only manual, people who want the auto have to get the L99. The L99 has AFM also since AFM doesn't work with manual transmissions.

Yes, but it also comes with active fuel management, has 22 fewer hp and is called the L99

OK, makes sense now, not sure why they'd give it another another name, other than LS3 Auto...but hey that's there prerogative.

Because the AFM does change the design enough that I appreciate the different engine code.
