The JBA shorties come with new header gaskets and they are fairly easy to install. (at least mine were)

What did you use for the "Hi-Flow" converters. Is anyone making something to replace the factory converters with hi-flow ones while maintaining the factory headers or maybe shorties?

We manufacture our own bolt-in converters as well as "off-road" pipes. We use the metal matrix converter cores. They are 100% stainless steel and extremely free flowing as compared to the stock converters. We TIG weld them in a fixture to locate them exactly every time. Stock flanges to match the factory manifolds are used and a slip fit to the factory or factory replacement exhaust system. They will also bolt-up to any and all shorty headers, as long as the shorty headers are a direct replacement for the stock manifolds. All tubing is 304 stainless steel as well as the factory 2-bolt flange. O2 Chambers are used to prevent codes. Thus tuning is NOT required. I will try to have pictures up on our site tomorrow. Email me direct and I can reply with some pictures.

Hi Dan. No tuning? So obviously no codes, right? I know you guys don't care about strict CA emissions, but do you think that would pass here?
Thanks!

As for CA, I have lots of customers down there running our long tube headers on other vehicles. To date, in 10 years, i have only had one call to report he failed a visual. I can not guarantee you will pass CA smog, but I have no doubt the actual pollutants coming out the tail pipes will be within specs. But it doesn't matter as CARB has established any cat converter not stock or meeting stock specs, is not and can not be certified. As easy as the headers/converters and specifically the stock replacement converters are to install, you could always go back to stock every few years. Thanks for your interest.

As I mentioned above, hi-flow converters, (direct factory replacement), yielded 20 HP to the wheels. Long tube headers were good for another 25. So, yes, replacing the stock converters with hi-flows will make give you a nice gain for a decent price.
