OK but has anyone actually stopped to realize the GTO looks basically like a souped up grand am?? I respect the GTOs but where is the retro flare that sets these sports cars apart from all the rest?? To me pontiac could of done a WAYY better job with a completely different car.

You gotta drive one to "get" it

yeah a retro GTO would have been cool...but then I would not own mine for under 30k......someone else would have my car.

The "original" GTO was a tempest with a monster engine...
The new one was also a "run of the mill" car....with a vette engine.
really more true to the GTO concept then building something up from scratch.

You should see the looks on faces when I pop the hood on my "Grand Am"..

Which retro GTO would it be, though? This one?

Thanks, but no thanks.

This one could have been a possibility...

Of course, I'm guessing that would be a tank unless they shrunk it down a little - and then it would look a lot like the current Challenger.

And just an interesting fact, the GTO was an option at first, like the SS or Z28.

^ 19 goats in that pic. meh the gto doesnt have the muscle car look, its basicly a 2door grand prix with a ls2 imo.

and to stick with the thread. the camaro was faster back in the 60-70s than the gto and the ls1 ss were faster than the ls1 gto's. so im gona say this new camaro will reamin the better car of the 2.

Like Kenny Rogers once said: you've got to know when to Holden, and know when to fold 'em.
Maybe it's time for you to walk away...or maybe run?

SSmoked, that vid in your sig is priceless bro.

Right now, I would say the GTO is the performance value leader. Simply because of what it offers on the used market. Plus everyone has to take into consideration the GTO owners have had a few years to modify their cars. I would be very carefull of jumping on a GTO in a SS Camaro at first.

Personaly there isn't any contest for me. I've always been a Camaro fan and Chevy has done a killer job on the new car. It will cost me more but I'll go with the Camaro and see what the after market brings to bare.

I have to say that I am probably more excited about a new pony/muscle car war than any one of the cars. Since I was born in '70, technically I missed the first war. I'll take my spot in the new contest in my SS and love every minute of it weather I'm the fastest or not.
