Lightbulb GTO vs. Camaro

how do you think the new camaros would match up to the pontiac GTO?

Better.

the GTO's are nice cars, but...I think the Camaro will be slightly lighter, a little more agile, and have a bigger engine.

Oh, and it looks better

I still sometimes am undecided between the two. I like the GTO quite a bit but this camaro just screams at me. Am just looking forward to a real production camaro and full specs!

The GTO is a more upscale coupe, it targets a slightly higher niche in the market. It's got a lot of luxury features standard. It's also based on the last-gen Holden platform, so I expect the Camaro to be stiffer and tighter overall. I highly doubt it will be as heavy, too.

Camaro but I really hope that they fix all the problems with the rear end that the GTO had. Wheel hop was horrible, small rear tires with very little play for after market wheels.

Plus the GTO was hit and miss on being a lemon.

I read somewhere that they already worked that out. Someone on a Camaro board (maybe this one?) who drove a new Commodore (lucky bastard ) said there wasn't any wheel hop.

Camaro!

I love my GTO, but it seems like the 'Maro will have great improvements over the Goat.

I'm really hoping the camaro gets the LS3 the GTO with the hood scoops looked pretty lame.

I could care less what the camaro beats, its not a racer insofar as who can i beat. Its a nice looking ride with some kick that is fun to drive as well as work well for road trips and daily driving..

but I'm in the minority on this and other enthusiasts sites....

GTO to me just seemed like an excuse to give someone a new car with an LS1/LS2 in it with some features for a lower price than the vette.

Your not alone on that. I have no intentions of really racing anybody. It's just nice to know that if I ever did...I'd win.

And about the GTO being an excuse...+1 to a lesser degree

My Camaro won't be my only daily driver, so I'm more interested in performance and not comfort or fuel economy. Frequent trips to the track (VIR is only a short trip away) will be on my calendar
