Maybe a rational person would come away with:
1) Better buy the CTS-V and ZR1 if you want one, because they won't be making them for too long and their successors will probably be less powerful.
2) GM is not currently planning on making a supercharged Camaro. (And if the future will not support the CTS-V and ZR1, why would it support a supercharged Camaro?)
3) No need to hold off and wait for a more powerful Camaro, because the 300hp V6 is more than enough according to Bob Lutz (and he didn't even mention the 422hp SS).

My point exactly, was this a way of saying the SS is going to be a limited model. Hum............ (Z28 camaro might be a twin turbo V6 producing 5-600hp and producing 20mpg city) ya never know. But in the same it sucks for die hard NA power fans may be sol. If this happens we may have the last only V8 camaro produced by Chevy

yeah i duno they might have smaller cubic inch engines with power adders to offered in a V8 but i doubt that will stick around for long, i have a feeling the V8 will become less common as CAFE approaches.

I wouldn't read it like that, either... From one extreme to the other, geeze.

More than likely, the last statement was a continuation of the V6 hype we've been witnessing (well deserved, imo). Think about it, the head of product development isn't going to endorse the "gas-guzzling" V8 model on a public board....

Sounds like the SS will also be a sound investment at this point!

You message has been accepted.
BobLutz:
I thought as you did until i drove the 300-hp V6. A wonderfully balanced car with great handling and a superb sound. Buy at least one of those.
Did you really expect a straight answer from him on this?
Of course he's going to want you to go out and buy the 2010!

Like Dragon', I'm not sure he's going to praise a pretty large V8 that's going to have a rating in the low 20s in these times. To enthusiasts, I don't think many would really bat and eye, but for those GM really needs to appeal to, this would be a mistake, IMHO. I really hope for an FI V8 than an FI V6 more because of the sound than anything. Nothing says power like the rumble of a V8, I'm sorry; I gotta' feel it in my gut.

Just my .02.

What'd be cool is if they used the LSA technology on a smaller V8, like their vortec 4.8L. Maybe even smaller. I'm fairly certain that at that displacement, things like DI, FI, VVT and MDS could get it waaaay past 430 hp and STILL sound like a sweet-A V8. Speaking of which, little off-topic, but have you seen the improvements dodge has made to the 5.7 hemi in the challenger? VVT's really woken that guy up. Imagine if the General tried his hand?
