Monthly Onstar diagnostics

Hello Team,

Well I decided to open my Onstar package in the glove compartment for the first time. I guess Onstar can run a monthly diagnostic on your car? Does anyone have this service? Is it an additional fee to the 1 year free subscription you already get? Just seeing if anyone thought it was worth the extra money or found it useful.

Cheers,

Heelhook

I get an e-mail every month. Actually it told me my tire pressure was low once. Turns out a few days later, when it got cold, my dic showed low tire.

We got notification of low tire pressure as well on two tires on the passenger side... just the cold I would think. Besides I don't have Nitrogen to fill them nor insurance on the cars while in storage!

It comes with a subscription.
I don't mind it. It's told me before that I've had low tire pressure, when I didn't, but that's minor compared to the heads up it can give you on major problems in other areas you wouldn't know about until you're forking over your liver to pay for repairs.

So does this mean the Onstar email will send you something that your DIC wont necessarily show you? In the case of low tire pressure, the DIC never alerted you that your tire pressure was low before the Onstar email? I thought the DIC would alert you to any codes being generated...

I've been using an AeroForce Interceptor gauge plugged into the OBDII port - as its always connected any OnStar monthly diagnostics fails indicating it can't do the report due to something plugged into the port.

No issue - just didn't realize this would happen...

The DIC will tell you if the tire is dangerously low, but the Onstar report gives you the exact psi of each tire. I love the Onstar diagnostics. It could potentially save you all kinds of $ by alerting you to a problem before something breaks. It tells you if your engine, stabilitrack, tires, and like 6 other things are okay. If you don't have it, sign up for it.

Some dealers do it for you automatically. (Thanks, Becky.)

Just completed the Onstar registration process. I guess me dealer signed me up but I had to complete the process myself (you get assigned a PIN #, they ask for ur emergency contact, and your email address).

Thanks for your help team!
