Cloth seats are more comfortable in the cold northern states.
I have a 96 Bonneville (cloth) and a 90 SSE (leather) and the cloth has held up way better. The leather has ripped, cracked etc.

I think the leather looks better when its new, but the cloth will definately retain a newer appearance longer since leather creases horribly and shows shiny wear patches. The leather seats in the Camaro are firmer than the cloth seats. If I was on the fence, I'd sit in each of them for a while to be sure. I don't think the cloth covered door panels and dash trim in the 1SS or 1LT look as nice as the painted panels in the 2SS or 2LT.

I Love my dogs and have cloth in my camaro and leather in the subaru GT. Either one will have bad effects from dogsI have a very heavy flannel cloth that I use to protect the seats. Either the leather gets scratched or the cloth get pulls or shreading. They can learn to sit up nice in the seat that should be a priority. People love seeing my dog in the front seat of the Camaro sitting up straight.

I like the cloth seats way better than the Leather. They seem very durable IMO

It's not about putting the dogs in there. It's just what are your dogs like? Small, large, have toenails, have teeth and like to chew on things, shed, poop/piss trained, etc.

Sure you could put the seat down and have them 'stay' in the trunk area. But still, they're dogs... what do you expect will happen?

Heavens, this one tilted my meter. All I cold think of was Clark Grsiwold from National Lampoon's Vacation. Tie the dog to the rear bumper...... That scene still makes me laugh. (No I am not cruel to animals so let it go.)

It's the absurdity of the scene that makes it funny.

I would cover any leather seats in the car before I would allow a dog in there. (But only if I had to.) Otherwise, no animals regardless in my Camaro. (other than me of course!)

I prefer the leather seating areas by the way. It gives the car a much richer feel in my view. But to each their own.

The use of Vinyl for non-seating area sstarted many years ago. Which led to a Consumer lawsuit against one of the manufacturers, (I believe it may have been Ford) back in the late '80s or early '90s. The difference in materials was not defined at the time and people with some justification got pretty upset about being misled.

This is why the manufacturers now clearly state "leather seating surfaces" in all the specs and advertisments.

I think a dog accident (barf, tinkle, BM) would be easier to clean out of leather than out of cloth!

jeez, the point is being missed here. It isn't which would it be easier, it is the fact they they ARE DOGS and no matter what interior you have they are STILL DOGS and shit will happen.

With regard to my '96 Z28 and it's "leather" seats, I've cleaned and conditioned them since new. I've used saddle soap (as recommended in the owners manual), and my driver's seat is cracked all along the side bolsters of the bottom seat and seat back. I've never plopped into the seat or dragged my butt across it when getting out of the seat. No matter how you take care of it, leather will wear and start to look bad eventually.

I'm done with leather for good.
