What brand of gas do you use?

What brand of gas have people found works best for them?

Right now I mostly buy costco gas for my non-maro and it seems fine. It's cheap and no issues but this is a different kind of car so I was wondering what others have experienced.

Any pros or cons?

thanks!

the refineries are the same for all brands, only difference is some brands will put an "additive" in that does miracles for your fuel injectors and valves if you believe the marketing nonsense. I have never noticed a difference from brand to brand. If there was a big difference from brand to brand I would think one of the brands that is the absolute best might point to an independent study that says chevron beats out mobil in a head to head competition.

I've used Chevron exclusively for about the last twenty years, give or take. The Techron does seem to keep things cleaner inside!

I actually work in Blending and Shipping at my refinery and we blend the gasoline, diesel, and jet among other things we do. We actually blend a little fat quite often (more octane) so we make sure we're on spec and the blends are on test.

That's what I suspect but I have heard strong opinions on this. The additives are what I'm most curious about. Like you mentioned, I feel that these are more marketing nonsense but I was wondering if there was any real-world experiences for or against.

My ex bought a Citation X-11 pos from a family member which seemed to run better on gas from 'high-end' gas stations. (It was so picky that she literally got out of the car and started kicking it.)

Curious, do you get a discount? If so, is it anything major like 20%?

That would be one cool perk!

I have owned many cars and never once had an engine blow on me. Never once have I taken it in for service and had the mechanic say, "wow you need new pistons and valves, looks like you must have put mobil gas in this thing, WTF were you thinking". If somebody knows of an independent study that proves chevrons additive is better than some other brand and that it will absolutely make your engine run better or produce more HP then I see no evidence on why I should believe the oil companies marketing fluff. I just buy at the place that is convenient for me at the time

I stick to Chevron. Any time I would buy gas from Costco, even Supreme, my car's knock sensors would go nuts.
Now, as I understand it, places like Costco and Safeway tend to get mixed gas when they refineries have too much of a given octane. Hence the cost savings. Not sure how true that is, but in my personal experience, each time I've used fuel from there my previous car (Infiniti) would run like crap. Pop some 91 octane Chevron in and I was usually good to go depending how much of the older fuel was left.

PremiumUnleaded from WAWA or Chevron. I know the owner of our WAWA store. I had water in my tank less than 2 weeks after getting my car home. Thought it may have been ethenol issue but dealership checked car and no issues. I do put Stabilizer gas additive on fill-ups. Will help eliminate any water issue, and keeps gas fresher when sitting for long periods.
