So you get the same license suspension for both cases?

Not like it matters to me, in Texas we don't do points and you can generally get deferred disposition (probation) or defensive driving on just about any ticket that's at or below 25 over.
Ya it's the same length of suspension. Don't ask me why that's the state of MN for you.

We also don't have automatic careless or reckless limits like others have posted. (Like 25 over is an automatic careless or something)

The cheapest ticket here is $127 for basic speed, then they go up from there. But every county is different. (Within 10 bucks of each other usually though)

Back when i worked traffic i hung a few $397 speeding tickets, but they were earned...

I've had mine for 3 weeks now and no tickets.

But it's hard to jump on the freeway and not slow down in the SS. The power is incredible.

It's a natural rush.

I pulled the very first Camaro I ever saw over just to look at it. I saw the car, spun around on it and hit the lights. Guy was like, "what did I do wrong?" I told him I just wanted to see the car as it was the first one I'd seen. Up until I pulled it over, I didn't want one. After seeing one in person, I had to have one, and now, I do!! So yeah, it happens. Btw, the dude was stoked that I pulled him over for that reason, even offered to let me drive the car. Unlike someone above this post, he thought it was totally cool!

I love pulling people over with radar detectors. It's funny to see their face when I asked them if it worked, or suggest maybe they need a better one. Of course, instant on is a wonderful thing, as is experience enough to when when to turn it on.

Anyway, carry on!!

So if the guy you pulled over said "hey let's race down this road for a 1/2 mile so you can see what she can do" what would you have done?

Man you need to relax! Police are human to you know and maybe they like cars! Your the type of person that will get a ticket for sure.

Ok people this is the way radar works. Radar emmits out in a cone shape first of all. It will pick up the larger subject ie. If there is a tractor trailer truck and a car next to each other the radar will pick the T.T. unit up before the car. You may pick up a reading of the car occasionally but it will mostly stay on the T.T. unit. Radar can not pick up a reading through a hill. Also is you are coming down a hill you will not have a "true" reading because your vehicle will be picking up speed going down a hill and thats not really fair. Laser will be more pinpoint and you can pick the vehicle you want to "check". Don't forget both can be turned on and off by the trigger and will not always be picked up by a radar detector. Lastly the State Police, Highway Patrol, etc. use something called VASCAR, which is where they will clock your speed from landmark to landmark. They drive a pre determined speed from one point to another and clock themselves by stopwatch. Then when you come along they will "clock" you, calculate their math and presto, they got you, no bells, whistles, or warning lights go off!

The point is that they are "supposedly" (I don't actually believe the stories) pulling people over - I.E. putting their lights on behind someone driving and making them stop forcibly while they check out the person's car. Don't you think that is out of line to say the least or more like ILLEGAL! A Police Officer needs a lawful reason to pull someone over.

So YOU RELAX!

I can lawfully stop you for any number of reasons, ranging from window tint, to front license plate, to seatbelt infraction to talking on your cell phone. Which reason would you prefer?

BTW, you can believe the stories. I've done it myself. I'm a cop and I pulled over a Camaro just to look at it. The owner of the car was stoked and offered to let me drive it. Maybe you need to relax just a little. I'm sure the five minutes I spent with the guy, building community relations, was a total waste of time. He thought it was cool someone from his local police department was a car guy. He also thought it was cool that someone from his local department didn't think they were better then the average joe schmoe and wanted to check out his new wheels. A lot can be read into what I did, on both sides. It's up to you to decide which story you want to read.

ssjoe...you do the same brother! I do enjoy a good traffic stop, or terry stop!!

Yeah I would, why not? Not illegal to make a joke to a cop...espicially if he WAS ILLEGALY PULLING ME OVER to ride my jock about a car! I know your joking and aren't really a cop knowing that what you did would not be funny to your superiors.

Really dude, your a cop! Your funny as hell!
