the most important things i got out of him were

1. the camaro with the fe3 suspension will pull .97g in lateral acceleration on a skid pad. in comparison a porsche 911 turbo does .96....yes thats right a chevy is better from the factory. getting over 1g is a matter of changing to grippier tires. just think what it will do with the pedders bushing set. Al also said he he thought the pedders hard bushings would give it alot more.

2. for all the people wanting to run power adders on the engine and were wondering about the rear end IRS. dont worry. All said they have run 650 WHEEL HORSEPOWER thru it and it was still pristine he figured the stock rear end could handle much more. how much more i guess would be up to you to find out....

i also sat at the same table with John cox the accessories manager for the camaro. He was super great to bounce questions off of.

1. the blade spoiler is alot better then the normal rsv6 and ss spoiler and has been wind tunnel tested.

2. the ground effects kit has little effect on the aerodynamic properties.

3. there will be a hurst short throw shifter option for the car that makes the throws even better then the standard car and will be available with a pistol grip, t-handle or standard hurst ball shift knob.

really when at the moment i am so excited i cannot process all the joy i feel about the car and its capabilities. its just so much more then we could have asked for in this price bracket. its just simply amazing

i will post my pics later but now i have to go to bed since i have to be up in 5 hours to catch my plane.

good night all, Today was an AMAZING DAY for all camaro lovers. this car is so much more then i even dreamed of and we should all be rejoicing.
Sorry...........and I'll eat my words when the car actually comes out ---- BUT I won't believe for one sec the car will pull .97! A Ford GT pulls 1.00, Ferrari F430 pulls a .94, Gallardo pulls a .98 and a Bugatti pulls a .94. There's no way a Camaro would compare to these.......and like someone said, that's better than the Vette. Don't get me wrong,,,,,,,I wish it were true, but I just can't believe it.

I'm in the same camp as you. When I first saw that number in this thread, I was very skeptical. Hopeful, but skeptical nevertheless.

Hope you’re hungry…

There are going to be a lot of “competition” car owners trying to find something to prop their moths shut when the Camaro hits the streets next spring. The Camaro is for real…

I just want to mention how completely understandable it is to doubt these claims...but also how funny I think it is to read all the doubts about this car...

To say it will "blow you away" is probably an understatement at this point.

I have my share of high expectations. GM has surpasses all of them so far.

From Edmunds--stock '09 Vette: 0.92 g skidpad

From Road & Track Z06 vs. ZR1 comparo:

stock '09 Z06: 0.96 g skidpad
stock '09 ZR1: 0.99g (est.) skidpad, but later testing had it slightly above 1 g

So yes, it would be sweet to have the SS run a 0.97 g, but at this time I have to doubt it based on numbers from higher performance LS-based vette's.

They'll surpass my expectations when a factory souped-up Camaro comes out (I'll refrain from saying "Z28" to not cause too much drama!!!)

i dont know why al would say that if he didnt mean it, because it would make him look like an idiot when some one else tested it.

Yep, and you know they'll come out with it--named Z28 or something else, but whatever it is, it will be stout for sure. So I'll just sit back and eat my popcorn.

I suspect the skid pad was a little generous, but not much. Look at the Cobalt SS, I can't recall the number but it "grips" pretty well especially for FWD. The real world number will come when the mags get it, but it will be in the park. Someone said they get impressed by GM and this car more everyday. I concur, It just keeps getting better. I am looking forward to this thing coming out.
