Skidpad numbers vary with conditions just like 0-60 and 1/4 mile. Plus there is no set way to measure skidpad numbers, some use 200 ft circles, others use 300 ft. I imagine that cars might give better results with the bigger circle. Then there is the grip of the road itself. Smooth asphalt will be different from rough concrete

In all seriousness, like someone else already said, this car has exceeded my expectations so far. Some of the things here and there seem a little gimicy (?sp?) (but I like gimics for the most part) but I like seeing little details exploited into features. The ambient lighting comes to mind first, but I just love it. I have another car with ambient lighting and it isn't near as cool as Camaro's but I just love it. I can't wait to put my hands on one

I think it's going to be hard to test objectively but the skeptics will always point to the lowest results. I know I won't be disappointed when I get mine

There's no way a Camaro would compare to these.......and like someone said, that's better than the Vette. Don't get me wrong,,,,,,,I wish it were true, but I just can't believe it.
I agree with you, none of these cars the camaro can be compared to, but what about the new M3? it pulls a .95. i would be willing to compare the camaro to the M3. granted i too am skeptical about .97, i wouldnt be surprised if the car generated .93 or so. the bigger 4 door G8 puts out .85 on the skid pad, which is great for a car its size. the camaro has had a little more refinement on the same platform. .08 doesnt seem to hard to pick up under the right conditions with a little more massaging and a coupe version. i expect to start seeing 1.XX after pedders gets to pop in some stuff. remember they are building a camaro race car already with GM, so they know what they are dealing with right out the gate. heck if they got some say in the engineering of the camaro, .97 is surely a number to look out for, supercars be damned. i just want to know how GM is going to step up the big brother corvette if it does respond this well.

thanks for sharing the info
with these numbers, i'll assume it wont take long for the Camaro to be starring in upcoming action motion pictures, putting its big brother, the Vette, out of a job... ( i just seen 'Wanted' yesterday)

Camaro news just keep getting better and better!

Dumb question, but this is coming from someone with no experience working on/modding cars, etc.

Would it be possible to replace the gear from the 2010 model with a 3.73 without voiding my warranty? How much work is it?

Edit: Nevermind, read somewhere that it's possible and some manufacturers offers kits for this.

Hopefully GM Performance Parts will release a kit.

stock '09 ZR1: 0.99g (est.) skidpad, but later testing had it slightly above 1 g

So yes, it would be sweet to have the SS run a 0.97 g, but at this time I have to doubt it based on numbers from higher performance LS-based vette's.
one thing to think about is that all the corvettes dont have to have better lateral acceleration. they are lighter and thus can brake later into turns and have shorter braking distances so they still are faster.

you should be able to get the rear end or just order your car with the 3.73 rear end later in the model year
