96CAMaro is correct. Apples and oranges.

I currently own a '97 911 and track it a lot. It only has 282HP stock and I typically run rings around the musclecars at the track due to them spending money on the HP and little on the suspension and brakes.

I think the new Camaro will do well on the track but the weight is a handicap. It needs to lose 400-500 lbs, be lowered and have adjustable shocks. With those changes it will be a nice track car.

You know why its underated, we can bearly get past emissions, If we had full Hemispearical heads instead of the semi hemi heads, the 6.1 would fuc&*ng murder the LS3

..... Besides everyone getting 426 strokers anyway

The SS should be at the same price point as the R/T yet will most likely marginally outperform the SRT8. It will crush the R/T which is what most SSs will run into on the street.

Good luck finding a stock SS as well. You know the majority will be stock, but the serious guys will almost all have modded cars on both sides.

So the poll was about which car company we prefer and/or the better bang for the buck. Somebody needs to tell ihc95 how to spell company.

wow my point flew way over your head if thats all you can continually come back to that.

also i agree that the hemi heads now are not at all the monsters they were in the past. one thing to think about though is that the 6.1 is still a steel block and and heavy. if Chrysler had come out with an Al block it would have kept the weight even closer to the camaro and there would be alot more reason for racing comparison (Stock of course) (really we cant talk about what modified cars will do because it is all about how much money and time you have spent)

I just dont see the logic in comparing a Camaro SS to a Porsche 911....way i see it is this:
Camaro is a muscle car which means mainly power but because of technology it has what will prove to be awesome handling considering its weight and power.
Porsche 911 is a performance car (IMHO there is a difference) in the sense that it is built for speed but also built for handling. You just can't compare it, the 911 would win simply because its designed for that. Even because of technology the Camaro is still a muscle car...its more at home on the strip (and of course add a few grand towards suspension and tires and it will be at home on a track too) but stock for stock doubt it.

If anything above you dont agree with, well I can see why but understand I would take a camaro over the 911 its just I dont see how they can be compared with each other....its like putting both on the strip and saying which would win? The SS because its built for straight power...(though the 911 would put up a fight)

that's what the video is going to be on YouTube... lol

Easy on the F4 - I heart that jet

IMO, this argument is about as good as if WE had an LSA the only air your HEMI would pull from the atmosphere would be our exhaust. Come on, is this a serious statement? It's not underrated - it's not emissions efficient therefore you can't have real HEMI heads. Is it our bad that GM could engine better engines?...

I believe we have been told not to call the new camaro a muscle car, and to call it a performance car. The rules are different this time around, This particular camaro was built to perform. I don't find it wrong at all to post a camaro against a porshe, we will see what the numbers come out to be.
