I don't doubt it will sell better than the 4th Gen (in it's last 5 years or so anyway).

But I still have a hard time seeing them selling 100,000 a year. I see 70,000 as a more realistic # once the initial rush to get it in the first couple years is over.

They need to get something else in the plant with the Camaro in a couple years to keep it viable when the sales of the Camaro slow down to a more normal level.

Sales toward the end of the 4th Gens existence weren't all that great so yes...I believe there will be NO problem w/ GM selling everything they build....as they try to push out as many as possible for those 600,000 who want them.
Thats one of the best things about my 2001 Z28. Lowest production year for 4th gen camaro AND its made a lap of the speedway. Should be worth something someday.

I too voted that it will sell more than the 4th gen, but that's dependent on one thing. The price of the 5th gen...

Personally I'm starting to get a little nervous about the pricing. I really want to get one but if it's out of my price range, well then I won't be getting it.

If the V8 is expensive, a lot of potential SS drivers will become LT converts. It will still be very capable of beating the competition. I'm convinced that this car will sell very well. V8 price won't matter as much as many of you think. The competition is what matters. When the SRT8 costs almost as much as a Corvette for sub-Camaro performance and the Mustang GT simply doesn't compete in terms of performance, there really is only one choice of winning V8. The RT is really nice, so it might pull on Camaro SS sales, but any loyal buyer will just get a V6 and throw on some GMPP components to take that down. The V6 is competitive with the opposition. The V8 is simply dominant.

Of course it will sell more than the 4th Gen. The 4th Gen's #'s were waaaaay low.....

and when GM did a poll on this new car, they actually had................drumroll please.....

600,000 people actually say they wanted a Camaro. Now......how many years do you think GM will be selling this Camaro to get all those people thier cars.... I even think a 3rd shift might come on line.

if all 600,000 people were to place orders next month... i firmly believe we'd have a Z28 by launch lol

Dragoneye and I have been talking about that via pm a lot lately. I am roughly 90% sure that an SS is in order for me, but I know that a v-6 for the right price and fairly optioned will be even more in place for me than an SS i cant afford. im going to test drive the v-6 first, and if I REALLY, REALLY like it. i will get it. cus I know as soon as I take a v-8 for a spin, I will be hooked.

the fourth gen had some styling, size, and advertisement problems, but underneath tht, it still had the balls to do what the other ponycars were doing. and yes, the 5th gen camaro was styled after the first gen, which many ppl, myself included, believe to be the overall best gen. in short, yes, these are goinmg to sell a lot better. o, and the fact tht mustangs blow doesnt hurt the camaros chances either.

Not sure if all the figures are publically available, but the Mustang Source has the production numbers for several years between 1999 and 2004:

1999 - 133,907
2000 - 215,693
2003 - 155,370

During those years, the V6 outsold the V8 almost 4 to 1.

2005 - 192,000
2007 - 134,626

Autoblog.com reported in June 2008 that Ford expects to only produce 45,000 Mustangs for 2009, which would make that the lowest selling Mustang ever, by far. The previous lowest selling year was 1992, at 79,280 cars. Not sure how accurate that story is, but here it is: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/05/2...-45-000-units/
