Your dealer is wrong, unless your dealer is CamaroScotty or KarlChev.
I think that covers all of the bases.
Great facts!

I still believe in the motto, "believe nothing you hear and half of what you see".

I definately hope they have pricing numbers on the October 10th IDL.

Remember they said at the July release the V6 would start around $22k and the V8 $28k. I am hoping then, the loaded SS will come in around $32k plus dealer options pushing it to Hopefully no more than $36 or $37k

Why are they not putting out the price until january, but orders can be made in october? it makes sense to me for the price to be available at the time of order so we know what car and options we want and can afford. can anybody tell me what the strategy behind this is?

Under federal law, a manufacturer MUST have an allocation plan in place that can be defended in a court of law. (don't believe me? ask the guys from Honda that went to jail several years ago.........)

We will have an allocation plan in place -- it's based on dealers' sales history......and I can tell you that we did not look at 2002 Camaro sales -- simply because of the number of dealerships that have changed ownership since then.

would seem silly to base it off car sales for 7 years ago.

and i still beleive they will have pricing on the 13th or 15th like we were told at indy.

they want to know what options are going to be popular so they can make sure to have plenty of those parts around for manufaturing cars

I still think that each dealer, reguardless of size, will get around 3-10 Camaros upon release. They are doing the same thing with the Traverse. After that, it will be based on sales history for the dealer. I had also heard it would be based on 02 sales, but I'll take Scott's word on that.

I'm not sure why we will not know pricing until Jan, but that is the way it's going to be. I think that they will base the prices on what is popular. Production costs will be x amount if we have x amount of orders. ect. This might be to our advantage as it could be what they have to do to try to keep cost down for the end consumer.

If the V8 will be limited in release to only 20%-30% of the total amount of Camaro's, it is imperative to pre-order one October 13th or you may not get one for a long time afterwords.. In my opinion, if you don't pre-order early, you might as well wait until the HUD is available or be willing to pay high markups for those at crooked dealers out to make a quick $10,000 over MSRP.

What he said. I have been stressing this to everyone here. Make sure you are high up on the list, or dealing with a volume dealership that has a huge allotment.
