Winter Driving Amazement

Driving home today in New England proved to be the biggest challenge this winter and my Camaro LT2 19" All season Tires came through for me. I finally drove through road conditions that were my worst nightmare. We had sheer ice on Interstate 91N CT. in several hilly sections and the Camaro engineering came through. I used all three ABS stop my slide and kept me straight. Steering control and traction control worked as designed and kept me moving forward and straight on the ice cover hills. I owned several Firebirds and Camaro’s and this design was the absolute best I have ever driven. My hat is off to the Camaro engineers. Great job. The only thing I can say is go slow and let the Camaro do it thing and you should be fine. Going fast will defeat all of the control and you will end up out of control.

What a freak storm, the forecast was for flurries. I took the Camaro thinking I would be home before the mess. AAARRRGGGHHH now my car is covered in sand and salt. Took me almost 2 hours to get from East Hartford to Springfield ! Normally 40-45 minutes.

Looks like you have winter tires and rims on your Camaro. What brand tire did you go with and how did they do on the sheer ice on 91N yesterday?

If you had an SS with summer tires you probably would not have made it home. I have been able to take mine out once a week or so but I think I'm stuck in the garage for a while now- 9 degrees this A.M here in No West Ct.
I'll be getting all-season tires next fall for sure.

Myold88 - - I would go for Firestone Blizzaks they are far better in the snow and ice. Keep and eye f open for Firestone sale adds starting this month the tire companies will be looking to get rid of the snow tires and will be offering deals like buy one get one free.

I'll just stick with my truck for winter time.

Pirelli scorpion on heritage wheels is my winter setup. The setup along with the traction control was actually very good on the hard pack and ice yesterday. I highly recommend the setup after yesterday. I recommend storing it in the garage on days like that even more due to the other drivers.
