I bought the Gas Cap caddy, but I have not installed it because I have never had a problem with the gas cap cord falling off the hook...

Insert gas filler nozzle. Then gently set the gas cap on top of it. Or hang it over the filler nozzle. If done properly it will not touch the paint. I thought this was cheesy too.

It's $10 from them.

It's only $2.99 at:

I just use the little hook on the door that came with the car. Works fine for me. I'll admit, I just got my car and have only filled it up once.

Why do we have a cord connecting a gas cap to vehicles these days ???? First thing I think of is, cut the darn cord....no different from our early hot rods.

Justin...that's exactly how I do it! Elegant, simple, no-cost solution.

I didn't know people filled up your gas for you anymore. I thought that ended in like the 50s lol

Sadly, I know it to be a *law* in New Jersey. Apparently they think that every person who drives a car is a petrol thief. Granted it's been about 5 years since I was up that way, but I'm pretty sure it's still in effect.

Some gas station owners elect to do this too for whatever silly reason. It does create jobs I guess, which in this economy each is a blessing.

Have to say I do the whole cap-over-the-door thing. Works well enough, but I like the band idea. Must remember to do it once I get my poor Bee back.

Interesting that some (most?) of us have the problem. I sure do. The plastic cord on mine is so stiff that it won't stay on the little hook. But obviously others don't have that issue.

Bought the Gas Cap Caddy but haven't installed it yet. Love the hair band idea, will try that this weekend.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Guys got my Gas Cap Cadyd just earlier and installed. Few tips id like to share.

1, I removed the plastic cord and ring from the gas cap, there is too much pressure on the damn thing.

2. The Gas Cap Caddy has a piece of crap tape on the back. I didnt even bother using it. I covered the entire backside with 3M VHB Tape

3. Use Prep Sol cleaner on parts

4. Used heat gun to heat the VHB Tape to get a good bond

5. This is up to you. The gas cap does not fit in the Caddy perfectly. The cap is larger than the Caddy opening. Granted this must be a universal item because my Porsche cap fits much better.

I took my Dremel and a sanding drum and opened up the area where the cap sits. Now its much better.

Happy so far but lets wait and see the gas Attendants screw this one up next time I refuel.
