I have never ever bought a car while thinking about crashing it. I have a lot of trouble picturing someone wanting a Camaro looking at it in the framework of how good it crashes. I look at it more in the framework of how good it can get me out of harms way quickly. I happen to ride a motorcycle. I know that if Gottlieb Daimler invented the motorcycle today that there is no way that our government would certify it for street use. If you are really concerned about how good it crashes, perhaps you should buy a Volvo or a mini van.

I ride a motorcycle too. However, you can't prevent others from driving like idiots, that's why the crash rating matters. There was a guy killed last summer on his bike because some girl was painting her nails and didn't realize the light was red and creamed the stopped bike in front of her.

Don't forget about all the sleepy/drunk line weaving drivers that are out late at night that EVERYBODY has seen. Even if you are paying attention, at 60MPH there is very VERY little time to avoid a head on crash.

Why do I have to drive a minivan to be safe in the event of a crash? Why not recommend that everybody drive tanks? I want a coupe, I want the car to be built to meet the 5 star rating because it's supposedly easy to do!

Wait until they release something to get excited about!

As for the crash rating IIRC it's been stated that the car could have a 5-star but it would require some different airbag settings that GM determined would actually decrease passenger safety. It sounds crazy but the tests can be as much a numbers game as anything else.

I am waiting for the 2011. I want to have one of the first ones. I am looking for the 2011 because it will be available right when I have my desired down payment. (5500) I will be getting a LS. Can't wait.

Does anyone know if the Vin numbers start with the new model year?

I'm anxious to see what new options (if any) there are for 2011. I will be ordering the first of May, and can't wait! I sure hope they decide to do the HUD, and it would be awesome if they made it an option for the 1SS, along with the four pack gauges...

Haha. The way I'm on the fence between the 2LT and 2SS - the 2011 will be released.
