this has been so intertaining. i love standards and have been driving them all my life. i have been second guessing my m6 only because i want my wife to enjoy the car also. but i know she will be able to handle the m6. i was just wondering if there was any real performance difference. i have no plans to mod my car. it is only one state away right now!!! i cant wait. it will look great in my garage next to my yellow/black 73 RSZ28 383 4 speed.

This was my first 'Which is faster' thread. It's been fun. I don't really give a damn, I'm moding mine anyway.

The automatic has an L99 engine which only gives the car approximately 400hp, but the manual has the LS3 engine with 426hp which is around 26 more hp than the automatic.

but it all comes down to the driver.

I read this whole thread and I don't get it. What does being a good driver have to do with 1/4 mile times on an M6???

Don't you just double tap for launch control and hold on???

all the difference in the world, even for autos. To get the best times you will have traction control off. And on stock tires this means you really need to be able to launch fast but without excessive wheel spin. Then for stick you need quick shifts, but the launch is the key thing on both. Bone stock these cars can easily spin the wheels with both stick and auto. The "launch mode" can help you get more consistent with a stick but the better drivers will get better times without it.

Then throw in some mods and it becomes even more critical as it gets even harder to launch without wheel spin, drag radials would help.

I got a question on the L99 with the AFM, is there a way to disconnect the computer for more power and then reconnect it when ever I'm done of having fun, but not to damage my computers or causing it to go faulty on me?
