I have taken mine to the track twice.
After the first session, I ordered stiffer dropped springs and bigger sway bars to make it through the corners better.
At the second session the car handled WAY BETTER and I was very impressed with the cornering ability. Starting with the suspension is definetly the first step.
After the second session watching the Z06 corvette leave me behind on the straight aways, I started looking at a supercharger to close the gap.
Now the car is stored away for the winter, waiting for the snow to melt so we can give that Z06 another go.
Happy New Year!!

The camaro5 has a event schedualed with some other car clubs the end of March. There is a thread on it, but I think this event is filled?

There are also roadracing events at Pocono Raceway and a few in NY,and sone south of us.

MSR in Dallas would be a good place to go since you have DFW listed as your location. If you head further south near Houston/College Station, you get more options (Texas World Speedway, MSR-Houston, GrandSport Speedway, etc).

How much is a typical track day? I've never been so I assume I'd have to take a driving course of some sort to get certified?

You dont have to be certified for a track day. That's what they're there for. Most are "performance driving schools." You can show up as long as your car isn't falling apart and go have fun. Their main requirement is that you have the proper safety gear and your car is safe to be run at speed.

Definitely check out those tracks. Most clubs run for around $150/day to $275-300/weekend.

It depends how hard you are on the brakes. They lasted me 4 laps before saying "bye bye" and needed a long cool down. The fluid is not the best for track driving and neither are the pads.

One thing you can do which is free and helps A LOT for brake cooling is removing the dust shields. Lets the heat dissipate much faster.
