I've done it once on my manual v6 (had for less than a month). I thought It was just cause i was so freekin manly. But i guess you all are having the same problem? hmmm...

but same thing I heard the beep and saw the Huge "R"

I like the way the nissan Z cars have their reverse. Same position as 6th but you push down on the stick to get it in Reverse so you're either going to be in reverse or stall. But yeah, its kind of stupid that reverse is so close to first on this Japanese made Trans.

The v8s dont say R on the scrren nor does it beep,

Same tranny in my CTS. Never had a problem with first. Reverse was more the tricky one for people and it didn't have a beep or light so I had it tilt the mirrors down when in reverse to be sure I was in it.

Never happen to me, but I’ll say there were times when I accidentally shifted towards the reverse before releasing the clutch. Maybe one day it will get me.

Mine I dont believe says "R" but it does beep. Does yours have the backup sensors? My first one didn't and it didn't beep. Second has the sensors and it beeps when you put it in reverse.

Now that you say that, the LS I drove didnt beep either. Just an R popped up on the DIC.

Mine pops the R and it does beep (which only helps when the tunes aren't cranked). I like the idea of a reverse lock-out.

Wait are you telling me there is a beep when you put the V6 into reverse? I have never heard of that before unless it was on a box van / truck.

we are talking about a beep inside the car, coming from the dash to the driver, not a back-up beeper outside the car like on a truck

LoL! yeah its just one solid short beep from inside the car. That'd be hilarious to see a gen5 beeping as it backed up like a box truck.

So what other cars that have this feature on the inside? There must be several? Again, I have never heard of this on ANY vehicle other than a box van. I know my cars are quite old (a 2001 and a 2006) but really, a beeper to let you know a MANUAL transmission is in reverse?
