The way I see it, it is sad to see an American company laying off American workers. Period:(

Sucks to see guys loose jobs for sure..hate it for the guys in the trenches when it is the guys wearing suits who are at fault.

Ford has been spoiled with the success of the Mustang...for many years it really was the main show in town..the Camaro didn't have a chance really since 1969...that was the last year that the Camaro was a viable Muscle car IMO.
I am a HP freak/Muscle car enthusiast...the last great thing Ford did for guys like me,the average HP junkie, was the 2003/2004 SVT Cobra(note my signature). Honesly GM has effectively(and finally!) handed the Ford Mustang it's ass on a platter with the new Camaro(again notice my signature). From the 1970 model year until the pause in prodution of the Camaro you couldn't have given me one...the 2010 Camaro on the other hand is serious turn around for GM in the Muscle Car market, they finally brought some of the awseome Corvette engineering to the average Joe,they brought back the true spirit of the original Camaro and the bang for the buck is unsurpassed, just as it is with the Corvette. I got into my 2SS/RS for about what I would have paid for a Mustang GT Premium which really compares to an RS Camaro HP and feature wise.
Ford has had alot of success with the Mustang....finally someone jumped in to take some of that...competiton is good for the consumer.

On a related note, I heard on the local news today that the GM plant in Spring Hill, TN (formerly produced Saturn's and was shut down last year) could be re-opened. It seems GM needs increased production on some models (they did not say which) and the plant would require the least amount of re-tooling.

I couldn't agree more. Seems like they're scapegoating the Camaro hoping it will effect sales and public opinion. I don't recall GM blaming the Mustang when the St. Therese plant was closed in '02.

It's sad to see people laid off, but remember that jobs lost in this section of the market are more then being made up by other sections. It's a sectoral shift guys. If the Camaro continues to do well, then we will see Chevy hiring more workers to produce it.

Yep, makes me even!

Had a friend at work today tell me he bought his wife a car for V-day... and I moaned inside when he said Toyota. I understand where he is comming from, but more than ever I feel it is our part as Americans to support the good ol' US of A!

They sure didn't. They blamed it on SUV's.

We'll see how things change with the new 5.0. I think things might level off a bit, but I still think the Camaro will outsell the Mustang. To bad people are losing their jobs. I know how it feels to do your job as good as can be done and still lose it.

That depends, I suppose, on which side of the border you live.

Agreed. I have family living in Michigan, with two cousins that have worked at Chrysler for over two decades. They're annoyed I didn't go with the Chally, but happy I kept it on the continent nonetheless.

I am expecting a flood of preorders for the vert when it comes available in 2011 I just hope the people at the mustang plant get thier jobs back when the coyote 5.0 comes out I would love to drive one! I guess what I am saying is the convertable is going to give the camaro a big boost right along with the new stang , if America would realize the opprotunity we have to be able to choose between 2 awesome cars that are born and bred here in the US and quit buying the foreign products it would help bring detroit back

I feel exactly the same way about my role as a Canadian, to support the local economy. It helps that the Camaro is such a beautiful car, but I wouldn't have bought anything made outside of Canada with the economy being the way it is.

Add one more tally to the "man it sucks for the 900 workers being laid off." We're all Americans no matter what big 3 factory we come from.

However... All I have to say about the new rustang is..

6.2 > 5.0
