The SAE correction factor is used to make horsepower measurement comparable regardless of the weather conditions during the test. It's good thing - use it.
The smoothing is to remove the saw tooth look of the raw recording. The higher the number the more smoothing or filtering is applied. Usually smoothing is OK. Sometimes smoothing can mask an undesireable condition or event. My opinioin - use smoothing but also look at the raw numbers to verify all is as expected.

Well, I know the degrees are all different. I want to know why SAE 5 smoothing (the most aggressive and pleasing to the eye) are being used in a town that is ~150 ft above sea level. The humidity plays a factor, but I don't think SAE 5 is appropriate, especially on a dynojet.
In regards to the OP, you should post your dyno graphs uncorrected and corrected so we can have more info, or even post the winpep files. |

Soundwave, you missed my point. SAE 5 is actually two DIFFERENT pieces of information. First, the SAE correction factor is the same equation no matter where you are. Simply plug in the weather conditions and crank out the Cf. The SAE equation uses temp and DRY baro pressure to yield a multiplier for observed readings. USE IT!
Secondly, use no smoothig or a lot of smoothing as desired.

What he mean sae takes in all the weather factors if its 75 degrees here and we go to the north pole and its 40- zero the numbers will be the same. STD numbers is what the car did that day with the temps that day..

How loud is your Camaro with the Kooks and Borla setup?

Don't use another dyno, that's a waste of money. If you go to a mustang dyno you'll lose 30 HP and you won't be as cool with your friends. |

Thanks Nickey. That's actually why I started the thread in the first place. Since I didn't have a baseline I was comparing my numbers to others in the L99 dyno thread. I looked for Dynojet dynos only, and here are some I found:
366.50HP, 387.08TQ (headers, exhaust, intake, tune) correction unknown 349.50HP, 359.44TQ (intake, exhaust, no tune) correction STD 360.83HP, 378.30TQ (headers, exhaust, intake, tune) correction SAE 344.88HP, 363.54TQ (axle back only) correction STD Again mine showed 353.41HP and 365.71TQ. The Camaros with similar mods are showing as much as +13HP and +21TQ. I'm very picky about my tire pressure, and only use 93 octane gas from the most reliable brands (Exxon, Shell etc.). Fastlane said my numbers were right in line with what they were getting from similarly modded cars, but to me they just seemed lower than what others on the forum were seeing. Thus, my curiosity. Does anyone know if Fastlane tunes may be conservative? Quote:

I drove his last week and it's a great sound and it is pretty loud but not as loud as MBRP... Also a definite heavy drone at certain RPMs.
We will be doing a video with the differences between Borla +headers and Corsa +headers. Need one more video before we can finish. Just waiting on my Cats from ARH now. |

Those numbers are definitely low. My L-99 dyno'd 338.55HP and 348.76TQ SAE. 352.36HP and 362.99TQ STD. That's with only 1700 miles break in and CAI with cat back exhaust and Superchips tune. You're basically putting down with LTH and high flow cats the same as me without.
