My car is my daily driver and is very comfortable on long trips. I just drove 12 hours straight today and I don't feel it at all. I am also 6' 1" and 205lbs and had a 6 level spinal fusion a few years ago (damn motocross)....the seats are very comfortable to me and I don't feel cramped at all. I love driving cross country

Just for the fun of it can you show me 2 bone stock confirmed cars with with the same transmission with very similar mileage on the same dyno on the same day with a 25rwhp difference? And also proof that one of the cars is not running incorrectly and pulling excessive amounts of timing etc? Both of them have the same correction factor as well after the dyno.

Ill be waiting...if you miss any of my requests I wont consider it. So research well.

It is also funny how everyone brings up the driver difference and assumes it will be in their favor.(especially the guys in the slower car)

What if you challenger guys cant out drive the camaro guy like you assume? how bad is it going to be then?...just some food for thought. I guess we can assume in that case that the difference between the two cars is even greater. Losing by well over a second in the quarter and getting left 15 cars behind sound like fun?

A lazy driver in an SS would give an R/T with a professional driver a hell of a run. Just watch the hennessy test video of the camaro. Soft launch, short shifting (6k) and granny shifting. Car ran a 13.6 at 108.
yeah, probly just the pixie dust

i realize now, with you in particular, anything postive said about the challenger will be shot down automatically without video proof (yeah, i remember your screen name over on the challenger boards). so i'm done. i stated the facts, which you've already discounted and only leads me to believe my penis just cant compare to yours.

Anything positive about the challenger I will shoot down? It is a good looking car which I have stated before. In comparison to the camaro when looking at track performance and price it isnt very impressive IMO.

Im not stating the facts....hmm ok then. I guess what you are stating is more fact then. I guess I need to go back to school.

I am going by the books. Using the SAE certification to back up hp claims. Looking at differences in h/p weight. Guess I should just throw out some random excuses and reasons to make a better point. And then maybe a little pixie dust to add some flavor.

Ill work on my FACT building skills in the future, thanks for the advice. Can they teach me these skills over on challengertalk.com?

Well, get this.... Apparently I shouldn't have walked Saturday night, because they wouldn't give me the deal they promised I could have till 8:30 last night. The Manager claimed he had no idea what I was talking about. The sales guy was livid. He had even sent me a text earlier in the day stating the deal that I had until they closed.

Truth be told, I drove the Camaro before I headed over to Dodge. As I stated, I'm 6'4" 300lbs. My head was hitting the roof the entire test drive, even with a very recent hair cut. It was very annoying. That made my decision. I loved the engine & ride. The interior is a little bland for me, but I knew that going in and was happy to deal with it.

Long story short, I ended up purchasing nothing. When the right deal comes around I'm probably going to go with the Challenger. Unless more information is released about the head room in a Vert Camaro (= ~1" more room), I don't see that I can get the Camaro.

I feel like I am an unbiased soul here. I've owned nothing but a Honda or Acura my whole life. I liked both cars. The Challenger just offers MUCH more interior space. Both have classic lines that I love and are enjoyable to drive. Thanks for everyone's input. I've been following the site ever since a Chevy dealer told me about this place back in August. I'll still stick around no matter what car I end up with in the future.

Scott, have you considered a Mustang? If interior room is an issue, I admit the Challenger is the roomiest by far. But one of the guys in our car club is a huge guy, he's gotta be about your size. He owns an 09 Mustang with a glass top and he fits in it just fine. Plus you can get a great deal on a 2010 with the new 2011 5.0s coming out.

But if you go with any of the 3 muscle cars, I bet you won't miss the Hondas and Acuras you've been driving. Good luck man.

For the OP, I guess you just have to ask yourself.....just HOW important is that couple of tenths in the 1/4 mile worth to you? I considered the R/T as my next purchase, then waited and bought the SS. I DO like the SS, but there are times I really wish I had the extra intererior space. I am 6'3" and 215, so not a real small guy.....yeah the SS is fast as hell, but sometimes a compromise is the best way to go.

That was pretty funny Other than that, it seems to be the exact same thing people were talking about a year ago, same old arguments. It's as if time has stopped on car forums.

By the way, I now have the fastest car on this forum (or any other). I spent some money and made some mods so nobody has any doubt anymore - see my signature for specifics.

I have considered the Mustang and I do fit nicely in those. I'm not thrilled about the rear suspension set-up (my other bro-in-law owns one) and it would bother me too much to not have the 5.0 engine. Also, I seriously doubt they will deal on those anytime soon.

My first car was a '88 Honda Civic DX 5MT Hatch. Drove it into the ground after 9 years with 250k+ miles. LOVED that car. Blast to drive, great utility, very "tossable". From there it has been a slow decent into mediocrity. My current TL has only put a mild blip in the "fun factor" of driving again.

A couple of tenths is a moot point to me. Like I said before I have no intention of going to the local drag strip. I did drive the RT again last night and found it to be good enough. Doing the back to back really helped.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but in the Camaro 2SS 6MT, I kept finding it hard to shift correctly. I was rocking back and forth the whole time and I barely ever got a clean shift off. I've driven a manual the last 10 years of my life, but never had the trouble I found with the Camaro. The Challenger shifted as I would expect a manual to shift. The sales guy kept saying that the notches were really tight in the gate. But I was referring to the clutch catch point. There didn't seem to be a happy place to goose a little gas to start rolling without feeling like I would burn the tires.

Anyway, thanks again to those who contributed positively.

THis in't a bad idea. You may be better off waiting until the 11s come out anyways, with improvements scheduled for both th Mustang and Challenger, may be worth the wait, that is my plan

I'm sorry for laughing, but drag racing an automatic 13-second car requires zero driver's skill. Zero. If you think it takes skill, then you probably don't have any.

Have you driven the Auto in the R/T? If so, how did you like the Auto?

No I haven't driven either Automatic. I'm more interested in rowing my own boat, so to speak.

I did think the R/T had a smooth gearbox, I rowed em pretty good on the test drive. My SS is an auto, so I have not had the opportunity to drive the SS manual to compare it to the R/T.

Camaro SS or Challenger... I was thinking about both also. I got to see the Challenger long before the Camaro. The challenger is a great looking car. I think for the price though dodge missed the mark as it gets pricey real quick. The seats were fine but the dash and steering wheel were not exclusive and it was like sitting in any other 300 etc.. I was not a fan of the "timex indiglo" like back lighting on gauges.. I just didnt get excited inside.

The camaro, finally got to sit in one and drive one. The interior was modern and retro at same time which I liked. The headroom was limited with the sunroof so I would order one without it. The car drove incredible and the sound and power..let me just say this..........

I decided after the test drive it was for me..no second thoughts....no should I take something else out..nope..the look, feel, interior, SOUND, POWER..it was the car for me. I am not loyal to any manufacturer and my first GM in 15 years or so. The drive sealed the deal
