For 4000 you get quite a bit more car and performance.. The 2SS is not a deal its about 3500 over priced.
I think of this a little differently, forgive me for twisting your words. The base Corvette is a $4000 premium to a loaded Camaro.

Base vette is no LS camaro with steel wheels and a V6. It's every bit the performer any other vette barring the Z06 and ZR1 is. I agree, bang for bucks, the 1LT Vette is better than a 2SS.

Also, people are driving V6 mustangs off Ford lots for under 19,000. That's 4 grand, GM. You'd better hope you have some excellent sales personnel to explain to joe schmoe why he needs to pay almost 1/5 more for his stripper pony car.

Initially the camaro will sell itself, because it is new. Then after that "newness" wears off, they will be discounting like the old style mustang is now.

Base mustangs have been out for years now and demand for them is declined because demand has been satisfied, and people know the design is at the end of the cycle and due for refresh next year.

How can you compare an obsolete model price to the price of a fresh model that's just coming out?

You can pickup brand new 2008's for 38-39k depending on options. 2009's are going for low 40's.

After ttl for a 2SS I would be paying 37k.
