There was a oil comparison test circulating recently, I think performed by one of the 'clean hands' car magazines. I don't remember the source.
In the test, Mobil 1 synthetic oil performed pretty poorly. The film strength was among the weakest tested, and the wear on the test fixture was significant. The same test with Royal Purple yielded much better results. We returned the Mobil 1 we bought for the wife's SRT8 and bought the RP. As far as change intervals, I think the first oil change should happen around 500 miles. A number of members reported substantial debris visible in the factory oil fill, even at low miles, and it's probably a good idea to get that crap outta the crank case.
