Muffler Delete in NOVA Area?
Just looking for a good place to get this done. Anyone else do it around the NOVA area yet? I'm particularly in Woodbridge, but, shop doesn't have to be. The closer the better.
I went to one place and he wanted $200+ to simply cut the mufflers out and extend the pipe to the current muffler tips. Get outta here. This is simple. Thanks in advance! |

I did mine at Roberts custom exhaust in stafford. He did mine and rallyfever's back in May. A very nice shop. Let him know you were referred by Ernie. The iom car.

Hmmm, that's about 23% of a full after market exhaust isn't it? Not sure if it would be worth it in this case...unless I want to wait a while but want good sound now. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll keep it in mind.

If you try too do it yourself it will look like it. I have a muffler delete and the guys who did it bent pipe upward and used the factory tips. They also replaced the "H" pipe with a Magnaflow Tru "X" pipe. Everything was welded, sounds awesome and you can not see any of the new exhaust from the rear of the car underneath.......The cost was $81.00 for "X" pipe and $65.00 for muffler delete with weld and another $20.00 to weld in "X" pipe. Total cost $166.00.......Easier than spending up to $1500.00 for a cat-back for the same sound. It is very deep and throaty, sounds like a 1st gen Camaro......

Yeah I know doing it myself is out simply because of the need for bent pipe. That's why my favorite Corvette dealer (not a Chevy dealer) can't do it. $166 for all work AND an X-Pipe, now that's more like it. That would be awesome if I could find a shop to do that around here.
Are all X-Pipes the same or is there a specific diameter that you used? Same diameter as the rest of the pipes? Did you have to provide it or did they have one? That's what I've heard, it is the same sound, if not better than most cat-backs out today, and what's more based on other threads here, there have been virtually no gains at all with cat-back systems on the Camaro. Camaro simply doesn't respond to them because the piping in place is already so good, only a few restrictions (H-Pipe and Mufflers). So with that said, you'd only be paying $1,500 for sound. |

You are exactly right.....$1500.00 for sound. The shop that I used could order the pipe from another vendor but they wouldn't get for a few days. I ordered from Summit Racing and had it in a day. I had them do the muffler delete first just to see what the sound was like. I figured it was a lot cheaper than spending all the money for a cat back or even an axle back if I didn't like the sound. Anyway after the muffler delete was done, I went home and ordered the "X" pipe and had it installed the next day.......AWESOME. The "X" pipe gives the exhaust a more throaty sound especially at idle. If you go with what I did, I promise you will not be disappointed. ![]() ![]() ![]() :happy anim:Magnaflow TruPipe, X-Pipe, Stainless Steel, Natural, 2.5 in. Bump.
Anyone else get this done since I opened the thread? I got another quote from the guys across the street from Coopers Corvettes on Rt 1 and they wanted $300. Eff! I met a guy with a red Camaro at a meet late last year who said he got his done on Rt 28, but the name of the shop he gave me (High Flow Customs) doesn't come up in any area searches. He said his ran about $200. Edit: It was "Hi-Flow" customs, and of course it showed up right after I posted. I'll give them a call and see what's up. Anyone else? |

Quick Update: It looks like Hi-Flow Customs will do the muffler delete plus xpipe install for $275. Seems like it may be the way to go.

9043 Jerrys Circle, Manassas, VA - (703) 392-6016 - his name is Scott.
He's having a hard time finding the pipe he needs though (mandrell bent 45 degrees). Seems kinda odd to me. Another odd thing was when I stopped by today to see if he'd had any luck, I saw him clamping together an exhaust for another customer.....I've got to make sure he didn't intend on that for my car too. I don't think he planned on it because this was a recommendation from another guy at our CiCi's meet a few months back who had his done there and his wasn't clamped. Guess we'll see if he can ever get the piping he needs. Let me know if anyone has any other recommendations. |
