And you can drive a car puffing blue smoke for a long time as long as you check the oil to find out how much it is using.

Maybe if you get an oil change it will clear up.

my 43 year old '67 GTO burns some oil, I'm ok with that. a new car should not be puffing blue smoke, that can only mean something mechanical is wrong. I also have a mini cooper S that i race on road courses and one time i had blue smoke and ended up a small chunk of the piston head in cylinder 4 was missing letting oil blow by and through the exaust valve, ended up replacing the whole motor, seems that the motor was running lean at 6000 RPM, in the new motor i had the fuel maps changed.

New Update: went to the dealer today, they determined that all the lifters need to be replaced, as explained in the bulliten that was posted by DangerouSS earlier in this thread. they topped off the oil and sent me home with it while the lifters are on order, due in this wednesday.

The cats willburn most of the minor oil usage...but a can is still a must on these cars:

it doesn't look like much, but i really believe this was what was causing the occasional white smoke cloud out my exhaust, because it hasn't reared its ugly head since. looks like there is about 4 or 5 ounces in this 20 ounce bottle, so average 1 ounce per 100 miles!

it works so i'm not complaining about the company anymore.

Good News!!! between replacing lifters and AFM sucking, the dealership is working with me to get an new 2010 camaro with a manual. they just ordered it today. next wednesday is last day for them to order a 2010. basically since the new one is 2100 cheaper i will have minimal cash layout, 495+tax and title. told them i was unhappy and called GM who in turn called the dealership. exact same car without auto and sunroof.

The car is cheaper because you did not get a sunroof or automatic transmission. Why didn't you get a standard to begin with and save that money?

I know this is a little off topic but do you know if all dealers are still ordering 2010's until next wednesday? because i read on another thread that they already stopped on april 10, and i wanted to order a 2010.

well i just got told the cut off was this past friday, so now if i want to trade in i have to order a 2011
yes i know it was cheaper, that is why it would cost little money out of pocket for me to trade in.
As for getting an automatic, my wife demanded it, so she could drive it in an emergency. but has changed her tune since seeing the issues im having.

I think it was more she decided it was more important to get the Manual and make him happy.
