Unhappy An Extremely Disappointing Experience at Dealership

I orginally put in my Transformer Edition order in Nov 2009, thinking everything is taken care of. Well, the old addage "doing it right yourself" certainly applies here. I kept calling my salesman at Dueck on Marine asking for info and never got anything from him except my order number. Finally, I called the 1-800 Canadian number myself and the girl on the phone says (literally) "Oh Boy, you better call your dealer". So I called them and the dealer finally called the order desk. Then they called me back and tells me that the Transformer Ed build date has run out and I was outta luck. It's not so much that I missed the Transformer Ed (I can understand that), but I had to find this out myself. I mean, what the heck is this dealership and salesman good for?!? When were they going to tell me?

So, I kept my spot and am eagerly awaiting my revised order.
  • 2SS/RS
  • Rally Yellow
  • Polished Aluminum 20" wheels
  • 6-speed Manual
  • no front plate bracket
  • no dealer badges
Last week, I get a call that the car is in and I go in for a visual inspection. I'm busy looking for defects and such and notice that the "CAM" in the fender lettering is totally off level with the "ARO" letters! This is a factory defect and I was very disappointed. I also noticed that the interior was already scuffed and dirty. I was so put off by the crooked letters that I almost didn't notice the dealer badge on the rear bumper and the front license plate bracket bolted through the front bumper!!

I pointed this out to my salesman and all he did was make excuses. He gives me some lie about a new law/rule that makes them put on the plate bracket. I asked him about the dealer badge, and he gives me another excuse that it was missed cause the car went straight to PDI and got put on! Well, I was not impressed to say the least. Especially because all during my waiting for delivery, I kept asking the salesman to make sure about the badging and bracket. This salesman tells me, "Don't worry, Tom, I got it written down/under control/I'll take care of it". So here we are, staring at each other in front of this messed up Camaro.

I asked to see his "sales manager". We go back into the showroom and I meet Mr. Sales Manager. Basically, his only offer is "take it or leave it". I couldn't believe my ears. Not once did I get an apology from them for screwing up my simple instructions. Also, they kept blaiming "the factory" for the misaligned letters. Can someone please tell me why dealerships always blaim "the factory" for these types of screw ups? Aren't the dealerships suppose to represent their factory??

So now there's three of us standing around staring at each other. The sales manager offers to see if the body shop could fix the bumper. They also tell me that they can fix the lettering. Well, I've heard enough excuses and had enough of being treated like these problems are mine cause I can't "overlook some simple defects". They actually told me to "take the car as is".

As you can imagine by now, I'm pissed off and extremely disappointed. I walk out of the dealership and have never looked back.

Now I'm waiting for another factory order from Carter. I told the Carter salesman my experience at Dueck and warned him not to make the same mistakes. I have a much better feeling with my present salesman, but I've learned my lesson about leaving important things in other people's hands. I'm going to hound my new sales guy until he gets sick of me and tells me to bug off (then I'll know he's got the point).

If you've gotten this far, thanks for your patience.

:( Sorry to hear. I would have done the same but not as polite as you handled it.

Wow that's terrible man. As for your transformer edition stuff you can add some aftermarket emblems as stuff to your car and make it as close to that if you want. I've seen people do it. The best of luck and let us know how your experience with the new dealer turns out!

And the owner of the dealership will pay bonuses to these clowns this year for the great turnaround in sales.

GM can build GREAT cars and not sell one because of dealer experiences like yours. Sorry to hear about the troubles. Best thing you could do was leave the car and buy from somewhere else. Never settle.

Good luck.

Sometimes all it takes is an apology. However to not even acknowledge a mistake, say you will make it right, then say "take it or leave it"

What do they expect?

Anyhow, on the topic of the transformers edition. I'd like to suggest that you buy the Rally yellow (no stripes), and then get the stripes, door sills, center console, center caps, and fender emblems seperately.

You should have lowballed them when they said "take it or leave it."

"... take it or leave it."
"I'll take this damaged vehicle for $10,000."

Then they say no, and you walk out.

The misaligned camaro wouldn't bother me much.

The other stuff is just a matter of principal.

The dealer tag would come off in 30 seconds with a little heat. The plate bracket would be a bit of a pain. I'm going to have my bracket out on here next week as we are a 2 plate state.

Wow. That's horrid. Sorry you had to go through that.

A question. Did you redo the order w/ the same guys that already screwed up your Transformer Edition order? No one deserves to get the type of service these guys gave you, but after messing up that bad I would've gone elsewhere immediately....

you can always call gm customer service and put in a complaint about the dealer, i have done that before for this really crappy dealer i had alot of problems with. if the dealer you are working with now is cool, he can talk to the service dept and hook you up with all the part numbers for the transformers parts since it was mostly badging you can get them on ebay and from gm them selves

NO WAY. I did a 180 and marched right out of the first dealer. I went to another one that I got a good vibe from.
