Dealership blues.......
Hi all, Im new to this forum but after reading for a couple days thought I would join and get some input. Im a former camaro owner, 3 in fact all during 80's and early 90's. I, like lots, fell out of love around 93, cough f-body, and have been wondering the desert for years now.
So like all 40 y/o kids like myself when I first caught a look at the 2010's I was very excited. So long story short around Nov I started looking to buy. Found several close to my location and went looking. First dealership wanted 1500 over invoice, second the same, and yes you get the picture. My local dealership which has 14 2009 trucks sitting on the lot acted like I was a moron for even suggesting that I was not going to pay the 1500 stick it in the customers a@#$@ over sticker price. One dealership in had the exact car I was looking for but it was about 150 miles south of me in christiansburg VA. I called them and they told me if I didnt want to pay the 2k over sticker that someone else would. So I was kind of pissed and just feel like chevy blew me and my money off. funny thing is, 3 of the 5 cars I looked at are still on the lots. The one in christiansburg is still there, although I have not called them back from 2-3 months ago to see if they are still trying to have dirty sex with their customers. Camaro sales like all other car sales are falling and Feb might put them below 5k sales for the month. Every dealership in southern ohio has 4 or 5, Im just not sure why my money isnt good? Any car sold at sticker price is a very nice profit for the dealer, plus chevy inc makes out due to the dealership ordering another camaro. I just dont see the logic here? I know if I ran chevy and found out dealerships were keeping customers out of chevy cars because they are greedy sob's in this economy there would be some changes......but thats just me. |

Check out some of the other dealers who are on this site. They come highly recommended... CamaroScotty can probably give you a straight answer. You can always order from someone who isn't local and have it shipped to you. Forget the local dealers if they don't want to sell a car for an honest price... find someone who wants your business!

Don't quote me on this but I bet there are dealers on here who will give you 2k or so under mrsp as well as employee pricing on the extended warranty. They will answer some questions regardless of if you even buy from them they are a great bunch. I would recommend ordering from one of the dealers on this website. I was lucky and found a local dealer who honored all discounts and is really cool but that was the 5th place. I would of ordered from Camaroscotty if I had learned of this site in time.

You're in Ohio...give Tom Henry Chevy a call. They are in Bakerstown, PA and well worth the drive for you. They are an enthusiast dealership with no over sticker BS. They will take good care of you. I drove there from CT to get my car.

There are lots of dealers available to get you a great price on this car. They are on this site. Yes Camaro sales
are down some, but remember it's winter time and we've had a brutal winter so far. You aren't gonna sell many in that climate. |

There are plenty of dealers selling at msrp or below now. I ordered mine last spring and paid msrp. The same dealer I bought from is now selling for about $1,500 below msrp. Don't ever pay above msrp and where the car has been out almost a year, I would definately expect to pay below. Don't feed the sharks.

IF you wanted a Camaro bad enough you would be busy calling every dealer in a few hundred mile radius to find a car instead of being on here bashing GM. If you feel like one dealer is screwing you move onto the next. Thats what I did. My Camaro should be delivered tomorrow to Newman Chevrolet and CamaroScotty. Give him a call.

I personally dealt with Becky from Rodgers Chevrolet in Michigan who is also on the C5 board. I'm in San Diego and the transaction was seemless. She's honest, trustworthy, and knowledgable....not to mention she's Camaro owner herself.
Give her a shout as well, she may be able to help you.

I got an oil change today and the dealership I pre-ordered from
($37K for 2SS/RS) wanted good money for their Camaros on the lot. I was a little suprised. 2LT - $35K 1SS - $36K (no options except stripes) 2SS/RS - $42k (no sunroof, no gfx) |

NK- I don't think it was GM trying to stick it to you, that would be the particular dealer. I priced V6 Camaro's in November & most dealers wanted 3K over sticker for the V6 & 5K over for the V8. Now, from what I have seen, sticker is average, can maybe get up to $1K below sticker on a good deal without discounts. Look into those discounts- USAA, Saturn/Pontiac deal, etc. Good luck!

I have had three or four Camaros go to Ohio for this very reason..dealers trying to charge over MSRP.
It is ridiculous! Keep looking, there are plenty of dealers that honor all discounts and rebates...and a few that can get a supplier discount for you even if you don't qualify. |
