First two oil changes were mobile 1, does anyone use mobile 1 extended performance?

Not worth the money over regular Mobil 1.

Pennzoil platinum 5w-30

Last time I used mobil one synthetic was 4 years ago in my new silverado, next day the engine made so much noise at start up, I drained the stuff before putting 30 miles on it. Since then I have been using pennzoil platinum in all three of my vehicles, and their engines run smooth, no high pitched noises at start up, and my high mileage lumina doesn't even leak. Plus I have never been much of an exxon/mobil fan.

I was using Mobil 1, but switched to Valvoline Synpower. There are many good synthetic oils that are equal to and in some cases, better than Mobil 1. Synpower and Castrol EDGE have both shown to have 8x to 9x better wear protection than Mobil 1 in the standard wear test. Valvoline also has a program that will guarantee against engine failure for 300,000 miles.

Yep, I'm registered on Valvoline's site. I've used Valvoline oils for over 2 decades and all my cars have gone the distance. The Camaro seems to really like the Synpower too.

Did my first oil change @ 1000 miles last night and thats what I used in 5W-30 with a Mobil 1 filter. $20.50 for 5 quarts @ Wal-Mart + $5.50/quart for 3 more. Oreilly also has it for $3.99/quart.

I've got free oil changes @ my dealer for 3500, 7000, and 10,500 miles so after this it will probably be Mobil 1 5W-30 and an AC-Delco filter.

I still havn't decided whether I want to keep changing it myself or let the dealer do it along with all the other maintence checks....

These days pretty much any name brand synthetic is going to perform well. Oil has come a long way in the last 10 years much less the last 30. The cheopo store brand stuff on the shelf today is better than the best available in years past.....

Did my first oil change at 1500 and used Supertech synthetic 5W30. Almost ready for my 5k oil change and not sure what to do....
My dealer gave me a free oil change. I got the service manager to give me the oil and the filter, and I changed it myself.

curious with the limited slip rear end do you need to add an additive or just use a quality synthetic differential lube Thanks

Some, like the Royal Purple, don't need the additive. It should say on the bottle whether it has it or not built in.
