Flat black SS?

Is there any sort of protectant you can put on the paint after it's on...like flat clearcoat or something like that?

Often these paint jobs are done with a matte or satin clearcoat that has more texture than a standard clearcoat on top of a colored base coat. You just can't wax it because the finish has tiny nooks and crannies that wax gets caught in and cause it to look cloudy.

I have only used washing-up liquid with some water too keep it clean. =)

I didnt have the time and money to get it all grounded down to bare metal so I just grounded down the old clear coat so the old paint was the only thing left. Then just put 3-4 layers of the flat black paint and it was done. It has it's flaws, but then, I dont need to be afraid of using the car . Some day I want to do a "real" paint job, flat black again with flat white hockey stripes . The dream would be to have a gen5 SSRS looking the same!

I don't see why flat black would be so difficult to take care of. All base coat/clear coat base colors are flat until the clear is sprayed on. All the gloss is in the clear coat. Just add a flattening agent to kill the gloss and it should still be as smooth as a regular glossy paint job with the same upkeep.
