I attend college and only drive my car 3 days a week that's if I'm lucky usually it's 2...my parents dont want me taking it to school cuz lets just say it not in the best area...so most of the time it sits in the garage collecting dust...

Get your camaro. No reason to be driving a Z06 when you're 20... You'll get yourself killed. Camaro is a lot safer than a corvette, and it can be just as fast.

Get a camaro.
Thats like saying put the Glock to your head as opposed to the Revolver, it jams more often.

Uhhh no... if you're lucky enough to have a combination of high paying job and low college bills maybe, but I am 30 years old and STILL paying off college and I will be till I'm 40ish. Not everyone walks out to a $100k a year job.

OP trust me in 5 years you will be saying "MAN I could have had all that money" Suck it up and wait, its not like it will be that long, get it when you leave college and you will have enough for whatever Camaro you want with no worries, as well as plenty left over.

Buy a house instead, much better investment and prices are still pretty low right now. Then use the tax credit for a down payment on a Camaro

How long have you been driving, and what do you drive now? If it's going to be your first car, perhaps hold off for awhile. Get somethin that won't be apocalyptic to damage, and save your money- or maybe buy a house while the market is fresh. Like brokinarrow said, use ur tax credit for a down on the car later

Why don't you buy a 2LT for now then when you are done with school you can buy a 2SS and save it for weekends and special outings..

I'm a senior in college, I work 24 hours a week and I have accrued over $10,000 dollars in student loans. I went through the same dilemma you're going through, although I didn't have a lump sum of money saved to pay for the car all at once.
I traded in my 05 Cobalt S/C, and my dad got a loan with 4% interest over 72 months.. which is very good. When it came to actually making the decision, I had to weigh either paying for a house (which requires lots of maintenance, but is a much better investment), or making a car payment of $400 + dollars a month, and renting an apartment once I graduate.
Your parents are paying for college, so you won't have to worry about student loans, on top of that you won't have a car payment. How will you pay for the gas/maintenance, etc.? make sure you are able to budget your expenditures and go into the decision logically. I'm single and don't plan on getting married; when I made the decision to buy my camaro, I realized I might have to work 2 jobs to afford a place to live/car payments/food/loans, etc.

BUDGET BUDGET BUDGET!

Wait until 2 years into college. That is what I'm doing. Also do you really need the 2ss? Imagine the great deals we will see at the end of 2010 on the 1ss's!!! That is what im waiting for. I will feel guilty when I wind up making the purchase, but its gonna be fun as hell!!!

i had the choice this year to stay home and get a 1lt/rs and go to the best school out of my choices and my parents would pay for both. so i chose that firstly because of the school then the car i just so happened to get 5500 to the school i chose and thats pretty much a full ride for a commuter. so i chose the school and am getting the car.
