2010 2SS Trade-In Value
GM should have an incentive for 2010 2SS owners to trade in their car for the more advanced models to come in 2011 an so on. I want the Heads Up Display on my windshield, plus an other advances coming in future models. I don't want to have to take a huge hit on trade-in value. It's not fair that I invest 42k on a 2010 2SS (MSRP, RS Package, Sunroof, tax, etc), only to see a more desirable 2SS model come out for 2011, and I cant get back nearly what I invested with the 2010 purchase. Who do I write to at GM with this very valid point to be heard? Thanks.

Are you kidding me?
It would be nice if they did but they shouldn't have to. You should be happy with your car. Of course future cars will have better technology. |

Man that would be great but it's not going to happen. You think you have it bad? Think of all the guys who bought 2010 Mustangs only to find out very shortly afterwards that ford was putting the 5.0 in the 2011!

It's funny that when a dealer has a 2010 Camaro with a couple of hundred miles on it, there are members here who think the dealer should take a few thousand dollar hit because of all the miles.
That being said, if you bought a 2010 Camaro and there are improvements to the '11 model, you have to be ready to take a major hit on your USED Camaro and GM is not going to make a dealer pay way above wholesale just because they improved a product. There are some people who never buy a first year model for this very reason (among others). I have a 2007 Corvette with the LS2 (400HP) so when the 2008 came out with the LS3 (436HP), I didn't lose any sleep. I just enjoyed my car. I hope you enjoy yours as well. There's always going to improvements to anything you buy over time. I would just enjoy it and see what happens.

You would take a big hit. Not worth it imo.

This is crazy. Like RPO said, there are always going to be improvements on things over time...and usually these improvements happen in a short amount of time.
I'm finally starting to learn that I can still enjoy what I have even though it's not always going to be the latest and greatest. I bought a 32" regular screen format HD TV 3 years ago for $550...no I go into Best Buy and see I can have a 42" flat panel HD TV for around that price, or a little more. It sucks, but that’s just the way it it. I don’t expect Samsung to offer a trade-in incentive for me. |

Lets say you were to trade it in and get a 2011, what are you going to do next year when the 2012 comes out with new features? What you are saying makes no sense there is always going to be new stuff the following year and is a big reason why a lot of people lease instead of purchase vehicles.

If you can't afford to play with the "Big Boys Toys", get out of the sand box. If I wanted to trade-in my 2010 for a 2011 - I would take the hit. Because being one of the first to have the 2010 in my area (June 2009), and getting all that attention right up today, would be worth every dollar. Bottom line is, if you want to stay "Current" on your rides - It will cost you in the long run!

That's why I used to lease way more than buy. I'd trade in for a new car every 4 years or so! I thought it was the way to go...
Then, I finally BUY my first vehicle in a LONG time - '08 Frontier LE 4x4 4 door pickup, and then...sell it for the '10 Camaro No regrets...I'll pay this one off, and by then, trade her in for the 2014 or 2015 Vette Z06

I would never get rid of my 2010, I dont care what new advancements they come out with! 5, 10 , 20 years from now people will say "why didnt you get the 2010?, thats the first year they came back out!"
For me, the 2010 will NEVER get old! |
