I would have liked to see a higher rear-end gear, somewhere in the 3.73 range and smaller 18 or 19" tires as standard. That would dramatically improve acceleration. Those 20"tires are just too damn big, and expensive. It kills the 3.45 gearing.

It equates to .3 in the quarter mile.

Every 100lbs = .1 or roughly 10WHP.

On a car that is already underpowered and overweight it does make a huge difference.

Thanks.

Leaves more for the aftermarket.

I would love to see GM offer a "strip" version of a 1SS that had 18x10" rims and a 4.10. That would clearly put it ahead of the new Mustang 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. To me that would have been worth waiting for a 2011.

Oh I definitely understand you guys are working and improving all the time, but I am more interested in improvements for 2011. I don't have the money to buy a new car every year.

I didn't mean to imply you guys did bad, but just that I was hoping for some specific things.

That leads me back to my question: do we know everything about the 2011 Camaro changes or is there potential for surprises?

Also, I imagine we won't see any new performance tests for 2011? Just because everything should be in line with 2010's numbers.

Ooops! Came out wrong. LOL Sorry for dissing the Challenger. Was not my intent. To be honest...yes Camaro fans...my head snaps around whenever I see a Challenger on the street. And it handles great too!

I think what some people would like to know is if this is it for 2011 MY info or if there is more on the way.

I would love to see a strip version of the Camaro too, offer it as a special package to be ordered like the 1LE, id love to get a 2011 Camaro with 4.10 gears and a live rear axle, dont get me wrong i love the IRS but to save weight and price and sacrifice ride comfort id totally be up for the live axle. Also for the few saying a track pack would be really expensive it really wouldnt be, just compare it to Ford's track pack, might be an extra thousand or so but its not rediculously expensive like you imply. Lastly, for the love of god, give it tiiiime! Im sure we have not heard the end of it for the 2011 Camaro, they're just releasing the V6 info first like they always do! -.-'

Just remember that ford included in the price of the stang, the development of the track pack, for years to offset for the cost for years before it came out. But I am sure the option will be comparable priced to what Ford charges on the V6 for the track pack.

Heck if you bought a 2010 Mustang you got a price increase to help offset the cost of the new 5.0 and 3.7 that came out for 2011.

I don't think you will see a live axle 5th gen. Definitely not in a years time, but I am betting not at all. I am sure the rear axle area of the frame was designed specifically for the IRS. It would probably take considerable engineering to put a live axle in the place of the IRS. And unless it was really researched heavily and tested it would not perform well. Just look at the 2003 Cobra IRS. They had to compromise and just mate it up on a chassis designed for SRA. This made the IRS not the best.

Many of you have heard me say "when you change anything on a Camaro or Corvette -- 50% love it and 50% hate it -- and eventually most of those who hate it will change their minds.

HUD -- Our disciples were very specific that we needed this in the new Camaro. Moreover, reviewing the posts on this site will show that many of the very people on this site feel it's important......and so we listened.
No - it's not a 'free-flow' option - and there's a reason - build complexity. And yes, I can see some of you with smoke coming out your ears -- but the fact is that we have to sometimes make hard decisions - and this was one of them. From a personal perspective? I remember driving to the NCM in a caravan with one of the very first 1998 C5s with HUD.....when we got near Louisville, we ran into a cloud burst that seemed to go on forever -- and the HUD allowed me to keep my eyes on the road while also monitoring systems in the car.........I love HUD - -not everyone will - but I think most will.

Synergy Green -- do a search for the subject and you'll see that most were begging us to offer it. It's a VERY polarizing color......and frankly, we weren't sure what the reaction would be once people actually saw it in person -- not just from pictures The reality is that people are lovin' it. It's not everyone's cup of tea - but from my experience standing near a Synergy Green Camaro in many different autoshows -- the reaction is extremely positive. Now - that said -in my opinion, it won't be a 15% runner......but for those who love the color - you can now get one in an LS - an LT or an SS - AND you can get the LT or the SS with RS. You asked: we delivered.

Engines --

Let's not forget-- as many people have mentioned before this post - that the car is still in its first year. Yes - the competition isn't sitting still.......

BUT..........................

............don't lose sight of the fact that the Mustang is not only Ford's "Camaro" - it's also their "Corvette" --

Put another way - we COULD drop the Corvette and concentrate on Camaro only -- and if we did, America (and Canada) should take the entire team out behind the woodshed and shoot us!

Arguably, we're coming out of the worst two years that GM has ever had...not everything we wanted to offer the first or second year of Camaro happened simplby because of Chapter 11...

.....but to assume we're 'done' with Camaro - well -- trust me - we aren't! There are many things being worked on for the future.......(we ARE listening.....)

--But some things don't happen overnight -especially when you are working on a new Corvette..... (and I can't talk about it -- so don't ask....)

So -- if you're a "Camaro-only" enthusiast - you might be disappointed. If, however, you are a "Chevy" enthusiast - you know that our performance cars now start out at 312hp -- and go up way past 600hp in the mighty ZR1 - and there are lots of choices from the bottom to the top........

LS - LT -- RS -- SS -- Corvette -- GrandSport -- Carbon - Z06 -- ZR1 --

......not a bad lineup, my friends........and yet we have many more 'tricks up our sleeves' --

Thanks for listening.......

........thanks for your passion.........

...............thanks for your enthusiasm --

.............and once again: thank you for 'keepin' the faith'

I hope to see a lot of you at Camaro5Fest................

Drive safe -- and put those safety belts on!

I'm one that LOVES Synergy Green... but not sold on it being a daily driver color... but I can see why you listened and added it for all trims. .... can you comment at all about any other color changes? will there not be any more for 2011? perhaps when the special run of Synergy Green?

I'm also LOVING the HUD!!! ... I'm also surmising that there may be other little tweaks, changes etc that won't be in a press release like this, perhaps the adjustable pass seat? (though recert costs for the seat could be too much)
