They should just stop selling the Z06 and below since the ZR1 is out. Come to think of it, the only car that should even exist is the McLaren F1

To me it is the same situation here. I would never even bother with the Regal especially when the Grand National was there. It isn't that I have an issue with the DI 3.6 in fact I think it is an awesome engine....but if I was looking for that engine I would be looking at a CTS not a V6 camaro. People keep saying that the V6 is a terrific bargain and the SS is overpriced for what it is....In my eyes the V6 is a total waste of my $25k while the SS is worth every penny. But as I said above to each his own! |

I am so confused. Why would you rather have the CTS just for the engine, when you can get it in the camaro for so much less money? Why isn't the z06 a waste of money now that the ZR1 is available? I also think that the "DI 3.6 . . . is an awesome engine." I am just glad that I don't have to buy a CTS to get it. But, to each his own. |

You are missing the point. The point is that the 3.6 DI is made for decent performance with improved economy. If I was in the market for a car that was a decent performer and well rounded then I would want something like a CTS and get that engine with that TYPE of car. Im not saying to spend all that money to get the engine haha. The CTS is an all around much better made car and if I didn't want the "go" then the CTS would be a great fit for people looking for that sort of car. If you are looking for a cheap daily driver with great MPG and decent market average performance then I wouldn't look at a RWD camaro V6. Why bother...no trunk, no back seat really, higher insurance, and you don't get the performance of what the camaro is really made for. Get an accord then.... The V6 has no brembos, the soft everyday suspension, a non performance engine (in comparison), an "ok" transmission, etc It isn't about me having to have the top model like suggested above, it is about buying a car for what it is made to do. The camaro isn't meant to be used for getting groceries and getting awesome MPG. And to buy a car for the look and have the base model does not appeal to me AT ALL. I jsut never understood that. I totally understand that money is an issue for people and they can't afford an SS but would prefer one. But if that is the case then you will always wish you had an SS. So I would suggest either saving a little longer or buying a different car that will fit your wallet even more. You can get the same performance out of an 18k Civic Si as the V6 camaro and it is much more functional |

The bar has been raised but it was raised across the entire car market and the V6 camaro will fit right back where it did in the last Gen. So if you were comapring the new V6 to the 1993-2002 Z28 it looks like a huge improvement and will WOW you. But when the 2010 Maxima, Accord, Hyundi, Civic Si etc are still there right next to you at the next stoplight or auto X you are simply keeping up with the times. The 1995 Camaro V6 used to fit right around those cars in 1995. And teh 2010 Camaro V6 will still be right there with those cars in 2010. So to me that isn't really an improvement and doesn't change my view of the V6 in its market segment. Will it be a great car with good performance for 99% of the people that buy it....heck yea. But it was in 1995 too because the standard was lower. See I guess I am jaded because I have owned these cars before and I know what to expect. For a lot of you posting on here you are younger and a V6 camaro will be the fastest and best performance car you have ever experienced in your life. So I can understand how you may think this is a really competative kick @ss sports car with 300 HP!!! And for those of you who are 17 or 16 and this will be your first car that is awesome! My first car was a 1991 ford explorer with 80k miles on it and went 0-60 in 11 seconds haha and it burned more oil then gas. But I have been through Z28's and Huge Turbo'd Subarus that will run the pants off of even a vette. So to me I don't see the value in the getting the V6 for what I (repeat "I") want this car for and what it means to me. If I want to go 0-60 in 6.1 seconds I will just drive my (now back to stock) 2005 Suabru Legacy GT with AWD 4 doors and a huge trunk.....

Hey here's an idea. Let's have GM not make the money maker V6 for the average driver and kill of the Camaro now. Why can't V6 owners and V8 owners just live together in harmony? V8's are f@#$ing awesome but so are the V6's for those who maybe can't afford a V8. Not everyone has to own a rocket.(self not included)

Who cares what the 0 to 60 times are unless your planning to use the SS for drag racing at the strip. If you have to pull up to a light, rev your engine, and go oooh look at me in my V8, grow up. I sure when they stuff a 4 cylinder in it when gas prices shoot up again, you'll have a stoke.

Are you going to race your SS around public streets? |

The bottom line is personal preference & financial status. Let's not critisize the choices of others, but respect eveyone as a whole, that's what makes this world diverse. We should be greatful that we have a choice, and to compare to muscle cars of the past is unfair. Most, were V8s, and the economy, including the price & availability of oil, was much different than it is today.
In conclusion, the V8 is an optimum performer, but the NEW V6 has it's own, proud merits in performance, and can compete with the best the world has to offer. In the end make the choice that most makes you happy to be a Camaro owner, and enjoy the car the way it was meant to be, and start a new legacy in history. |

I think that most people want a V8, myself included. But not offering a V6 would be the biggest mistake since cancelling the car in the first place. Realistically, we'll probably see a 4-banger under the hood not too long from now.
