Dyno....thoughts???
Got my car on the dyno for a baseline. LS3 M6. Pulls where in 4th and hit the speed limiter on the pulls.
Got 340hp out of it on a dyno dynamics..... was hoping for a bit more but heard this type of dyno is typically a bit lower that a dynojet. Open to inputs.... Thanks. |

If it is a dyno like a mustang dyno that actually puts a load on the car during the dyno runs then the numbers will be lower than on dynojet numbers.

Where'd you get your dyno done at? I pulled 358hp on a dyno dynamics in Manassas.

It's not as important as what you get when you change something and re dyno. Some dyno's read higher or lower than others. The most important part is to try and use the same dyno when modifying in order to get the most accurate depiction of losses and gains.

Definitely a dyno is really nothing more than a tuning tool.

Do you have your sheet? What smoothing did they use? Was it SAE or STD? Those will make a difference as to what the final numbers are also.
As long as you get it dyno'd using the same settings everytime you add a part/dyno on that dyno you'll have a better idea as to the benifit of the part/parts added. Welcome to the addiction that is Camaro.

STD numbers are generally lower than SAE numbers. Unless the STD numbers were from some crazy -2000 DA or something to that effect.

I got my LS3 done on a Dynojet using STD: 1.02 and my results were 380.81 hp / 387.50 tq. Given what most other LS3s are getting, I'm right in line with them considering the STD setting and the dyno.

Here's mine on a Dynapack dyno with open air intake .
The #'s mean nothing these cars all make within a few horsepower of each other . The air intake picked it up about 15 hp .
