Count me on that too...racing? My car? I don't have the ego nor do I want to find it. My car is for me to appreciate, solely.

I liked the GTO when it came back out, but IMO, the Camaro carries it roots with it into its reintroduction much better than the GTO did.

GTO's a great car, don't get me wrong, but it's clear from looking at the Camaro that it IS a Camaro.

Not to start anything, but the new GTO followed the lead of the original in that they took what was essentially a common Pontiac design at the time and put a big motor in it. Obviously it's more than just that as it had to have a rwd platform and underpinnings.

Agreed it was PERFECTLY TRUE to the original muscle "Formula".....
Just not well recieved by the masses..who seem to believe the retro schtick was the ONLY way to go.....I couldn't care less about the retro....

I have a 600hp car that i have less then 30k in....what's not to love?

I saw a C5 Z06 run a 15 on a tv show I can't remeber the name of. The driver missed every shift including the start.

LOL!!

I watched a C6 with blower and spray pull 14+ all night! and he never missed a shift...just couldn't hook to save himself.

I beat him with a 14.1 on my first night racing while stock.

They are both great cars!
However, stock to stock, I would say the edge should go to the Camaro SS (with the drivers being equal). However, look out for the sleeper GTOs out there, some are wicked fast.
Actually this is a dilemma for me. At the end of '04, we got a 2004 GTO (Barbados Blue 6-speed) on a great lease. When the lease was up in '07, we turned around and purchased a 2006 GTO (Spice Red 6-speed).
But..... I love the new Camaro. So I believe I need both. I want at least the SS. I'm hoping I can wait long enough to see if a higher performance model that might be lurking out there, perhaps in 2011. Maybe a ZL1 or Z28?? The new Caddy CTS-V sure has an engine that would do quite nicely in the Camaro.
