I doubt GM will do anything with the Camaro. They could easily do it but won't because of the Corvette. What they could do is move the Corvette to 450 Hp and the Camaro to 440 HP or something along that line.

I am 1000% pleased with my 6.2 that easily gets 30 MPG on the highway. I could give a darn less if Ford gets 20 HP more because their fuel economy is poor.

Mustangs sell so well is because of the legacy and because there are so many options. If you don't want nav, then get one without nav. Some people do want nav, so you can get a Mustang with nav. Mustangs tailor to so many people and that's why they give you so many options. It's why they have different GT models like GT Premium. Most people don't care about the axle. People want different things out of the Mustang.
Of course I know that. My point was there are things OnStar can do that SYNC can not do. So GM offers another technology that Ford can't match. Which one is better depends on the customer.

And btw many people do care about the axle. The IRS is a superior solution that in a performance car should be a given. It is a lower cost lower mass solution that allows for some of the Mustangs lower weight and allows money to be spent in other places like a giant metal plate across the I/P........if you like that sort of thing and many do.

You are really missing my point. Both are outstanding cars. GM and Ford have made different decisions on balancing these cars for cost, mass and features. If they used the same data and made the same decisions, we probably wouldn't be having this disucssion....................unless you wanted to say one car was better because fo the colors available.

I have no doubt that GM will answer in some way shape or form.

I think the big thing GM needs to do is offer a track package, which I am sure they will.

For sure. They built a SRA that handles great on the track. When I test drove a 2010, its major shortcoming became readily apparent though. On the highway and city streets, where people spend most if not all of their time, its ride quality was not much better than my Colorado, which is to say its was pretty bad.

My wife even commented how rough the ride was.

If you give non-enthusiasts a choice between:

1. Spectacular track handling and a rough highway ride or
2. Pretty good track handling and a nice civil highway ride

I'd bet $$ undecideds will pick 2 every time....

Just because the Mustang will have a bigger engine won't make it a better car.

I driven enough 'stangs to know that I just don't like the car. It's under powered, over priced, uncomfortable, and hates tall people.

Is that the 2011 Mustang you were in?

You even said you are playing devils advocate. Besides, I thought there was a forum for Camaro vs. <blank>

The Mustang was underpowered compaed to the Camaro for many years and yet still beat it in sales. Nothing says the Camaro can't do the same thing.

You have to realize people who care about a 10 HP difference between cars and a few 10ths in the 1/4 (basically us) are less than 10% of the pony car buying population, the other 90% go with whichever car looks cooler to them.

Dude back at you. Contrary to your premise in regard to "asking people's opinion on what Chevy may do about the 2011 mustang," all you've done on this thread thus far is spit out Mustang rhetoric. Not to imply that the Mustang is a bad car (I've owned a few myself), but all you've done is elevate it to the heavens. Do us all a favor and sell your Camaro to a true SS lover and go buy your Mustang and spit out its stats to fellow Mustang lovers. They do have their own forums, eh?

SemperFi has the words "Camaro" in his avatar pic, he already said he has a Camaro SS and he already said that he is just talking hypothetically about Camaros. Seriously, if you don't have an intelligent argument to say, then don't say it, rather than look like you don't have anything intelligent to say by replying "go buy a Mustang".

This is a discussion forum, why don't people understand that?
Because a legitimate discussion entails giving objective information from both sides of the road...pros and cons...not elevating one side above the other in just about every category while hiding behind the shroud of being a Camaro owner...this without ever seeing an official 2011 Camaro...regardless of whether or not we believe the 2011 stats will be the same.

It's public knowledge not Internet hearsay. If you can disprove this with
documentation I would love to see it.
